Is there a build date that differentiates 2001 from 2001. 5 trucks? Is it the rear discs that define this difference? I've got a Sept '00 build date and have the rear discs so can I change my sig to 2001. 5 so it sounds newer?
If you tell a dealer you have a 2001. 5 they will most likely look at you funny. We made the designation on here so we could distinguish between trucks with rear drums and rear discs.
Tom, I'm thinking that you are only referring to the 2500's. The 3500's (early 2001's) still had 4-wheel ABS even with the rear drums. 2001. 5 did gain the rear disks but lost a lot of other stuff, however (rear plastic trim, rear seat cup holders, hood insulation, passenger grab handles, dimming vanity mirrors, driftwood paint color, second set of overload springs on camper special, etc. ).
I Have a 2001 with 4 wheel ABS and rear drums, No rear plastic trim, ALL the springs on the camper and trailer package,I think the build date is Jan, 2000. I do have the SLT+ with the sport package. Hmmm...
I wonder what the REAL differences are besides disc brakes? My early 2001 ETH has 4 wheel ABS, rear drum brakes, rear plastic on tailgate (GONE!)... Seems like the only common difference is the drum/disc brakes.
Don't forget that the 2001. 0 trucks have 2 grab handles on the passenger side instead of 1... that makes my buddy with his 2001. 5 craaaaaaazy every single time I make mention of it when he's riding with me... I'll say things such as, "hey, you can hop into the truck easier, if you use the grab handle" when he's getting in.
