Exhaust System Help Needed

B1 turbo on 6 speed

Are there any "recipes" for hitting around 100 MPH in the quarter mile? Anybody know how much power it takes? Will the stock turbo do it? How about EZ+DD2s+propane?

I just ran my best last night, 17. 86 @ 77 My truck is 100% stock from the air filter to the exhaust. Traction sucks with a 2wd dually so I'm more worried about the MPH.

Thanks

I have DD3's, Edge EZ, Powermax 3 comp version and a B1 turbo, i consistantly run mid 95- mid 96 mph 1/4 miles, only wish that i could shift the old 6 speed faster, i am running 15. 50- 15. 60s now. I think the auto guys with my set up are well down in to the 14's and probably 13's. I highly doubt that the stock turbo will get you there

100mph is a tough number to obtain.

I suggest heading over to the "Compition" forum and read the old posts, several members list times and such.

The weight of the truck will be your biggest enemy, as is ours.

We ran 14. 32 at 91. 24 at 7400 lbs. with what I consider to be a mild set up that you can tow across country with year around.

JRE cold air kit

JRE 4" exhaust

Van Aaken CPC

Bosch 275 hp injectors

JRE Auto Meter Gauge package

JRE Fuel systems, Lines, pusher pump, and lift pump.

Blue Chip Diesel 30% Blue box.

Pro Torque Brand 592LS torque converter.

Transgo TFOD-Diesel shift kit in stock transmission.

29. 5 X 10. 5 X 15 Firestone Slicks for track use only.

Pretty mild by today's standards.

NOTICE; Stock Turbo. EGT never exceeds 1450 Degrees!

That was our goal, Get the best performance without the smoke or driveability problems asociated with race parts.

A two wheel drive reg cab has the best shot of hitting 100 mph in the quarter with a 24 valve engine.

The 24 valve engine is limited to about 480 hp. with the stock injection pump, no matter what injectors or boxes you use.

Propane is a good kick in the pants that will reduce EGT, Clean up smoke, extract more power from a given amount of fuel, and put you over the 540 hp mark pretty easy.

This can be done with a stock turbo but it makes it a little harder.

Hope this helps.

Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

100 mph

Like Kat alluded to, 100 is a hard one. I have MUCH$$$$$$ in my truck and putting more in it every day. I attained 102 mph on 35" m/ts but I do NOT recommend this. Adam and I are the only ones that I know of and we are NUTZZZZZ. I just bought Toyo Proxes S/T to handle the speeds I will hit this year.

If you really want to concentrate on mph, focus on HP. I use the track as a dyno and that is how I measure hp. A friend of mine playfully put his pulling truck on the track and did a 15. 1 @ 100mph. I am over 600 hp, so is HVAC and MY6 and we are over 100 mph.

I am pretty sure my combination will get REAL close. i ran a 15. 47 @ 93MPH last year with the truck.

[insert excuse sheet here:] LOL

1. it was the first time at the track for me,

2. I didnt use 4WD (i'm a slow learner :D)

3. I had to turn my TST box down to level 7 to keep the clutch slippage to a dull roar. (it still slipped but not bad)

now that i have the South Bend FE i can crank up the fuel and let her eat. i am hoping that, and using 4WD, will get me into the 14. 50 range and the MPH for that would be real close to 100

I'm sooooo close, I'm a reg cab but 4x4 and I got some stereo stuff in there adding weight. I hope to prove that 480hp number wrong very soon :D Granted it won't be with the stock turbo, thats no fun ;)

reaction time doesnt do anything for your ET, just who wins or looses, in bracket racing.

FYI: the ET doesnt start until they leave the line.

We took our white Dodge to the strip last weekend here in Vegas at 2200' elevation and ran 13. 63@98. 06 for a best, with a 1. 928 60' time. All runs were done entirely unlocked, in 4WD, using a DTT 91% converter. The truck has our Super Mental injectors, our cam, Ultimate Fueling Module w/drag chip, Modified VP44 pump and our HX-40/16 turbo. It made 532hp/1105tq on Friday prior to going to the track.

With the 9% loss unlocked, it should have been putting down right at 480hp. We are going to put a race 93% converter in it (which will lock up after the 4th gear shift) and it should pick up a few tenths, plus the 3-4 shift was a little late. Once we fix that, I'm sure it will drop to the low 13's (or maybe a 12!) at around or above 100mph.

BTW, this is a fully optioned 2001 auto, 4x4, 2500 QC short bed sport. Should weight about 7000#, but I haven't weighed it yet.

keith , i have the same truck , SLT+ with me , 185ish and 3/4 tank of fuel , spray in bed liner , spare on the ground it tipped the scales at 6850 , with 1/4 tank of fuel , removing all the trash off out of my back seat , pulled the right battery and the positive cable ot it i was at 6656 ( i have to look at my slips to see for sure )

DD3's , hot PE in level 2 , EZ , DTT 93% ( it was locking at the 1000 ish foot mark ) , KN RE0880 with a shield to keep the heat from the turbo away , JRE 4" exhaust , stock issue tires , 3. 54 gears, HX35 with DD boost elbow , BONE STOCK FACTORY fuel pickup ,BONE STOCK FACTORY 3/8 fuel lines to a carter HP4601 pump in the stock location , no banjo bolts or fittings with 3/8 lines thru out and a slightly modified STOCK fuel filter , launching in 4wd i have sub 2 sec 60 fts ... 14. 38 @ 91. 7 mph . track elevation is near sea level ...

with my PE in level 3 and the HX40 i should get into the high to mid 13's with no problems but i doubt i'll ever see 100 mph , and i have all the latest goodies from DTT going into my trans , including a new 91 TC .

biggest problem for the us to overcome is weight , we are to heavy , the originator has an advantage , he has a 2wd , but is saddled with the manual trans .

one thing i notice is most of the guys that are eclisping 100 mph are 5 speeds , they have slow times for the MPH they are running , the slow time gives the truck more time to gain MPH , if you put a tuned auto in these trucks and did nothing else , there times would come down , alot , and their mph would probably not increase and in some cases probably drop ...

Guys,

I just talked with a customer in Florida who went to the track on saturday and he ran 13. 1 @ 113mph raunching with no boost as he ran stock michelin's and was worried about traction. :( I'm gonna send his my wheels so that he can try slicks and go for low 12's. His truck weighed 6800lbs.

I would suggest running the following as it should put you very close to 100mph:

DD3's

Comp

HX40 (or bigger)

4' exhaust (to make the big turbo work.

NOS(would put you over)

If your thinking about propane I would suggest NOS instead as it gives much bigger gains IMO. Plus the head gasket issue doesn't seem to be as big of a problem.

On my truck I ran:

DD Super Mentals

COMP (with the DD ultimate race chip)

HX35

3' exhaust

ET: 13. 78

MPH: 96

With you have a stick you should get an extra 1-2mph than me considering that I didn't use lock-up.

The truck that I earlier talked about had big injectors,comp,hx40,propane,nos, and was an auto with a DTT race converter. Which I will soon have as well.

PS: Dak-BD Power - not only did he fall asleep but he got knocked out by me. :D That must have added insult to injury. :{

DTT 1 - BD 0. :D We'll have to have another to see if you guys can even up the odds. ;)

I ran over 102 mph in Palmdale with DTT auto/no lock up. Just #2 and spinning the wheels until half way through OD. Traction is not an option:(

i hope we can get together before bd dyno days and head to the track!!:D my rims and tires will be here by then. no more 4wd for me. i weighed my truck tonight with me in it it weighed 7200lbs, so i should be able to get it down to 6800lbs on race day.

Comp + DDIII's + B1 should do it..... the nitrous would put you well over, I would imagine. I hope to find out that answer soon.

I think the trans has a lot to do with it. With the auto, I ran unlocked and went 98mph. This was on #2 only with the Super Mentals, Ultimate box, HX40/16 and the upcoming modified VP44.

If I were to lock up the converter after the 3-4 shift, I'm sure it would go over 100mph now, without drugs.

Wes, you will be doubling your horsepower/fuel requirement for the engine. Make sure you upgrade the fuel system. Bigger lines and lose the oem lift pump.
