2500 to 3500?????

Hummer conversion?

I came across a 93 "cummings" with high miles and a blown head gasket. Its complete with all the accessories. Some newer parts that sound like upgrades. Smaller turbo housing and the like. Comes complete with all the accessories/injection stuff.

Guy says it runs and I can come see it run. What is a reasonable price?

TIA,

John

JMHO, but to me it really wouldn't be worth more than perhaps $6-700 (depending) after a very close inspection, based upon your description. Personally that's all it would be worth to me 'cause I would want to build it to a 2nd generation/inline pump configuration, so I wouldn't use the existing accessory and injection stuff. Just as a reference, I picked up a '96 with 36K original miles on it for $900, but it needs a front gear housing and a couple of other things like the intake and starter.

That's just me, but hopefully others can give you a better idea what you're looking at.

What do you intend to use it in?

IMO - $500-$700 for a rebuilder seems reasonable. Those year engines are getting to be a dime a dozen around here because everyone is catching on that the 2nd gen's are more desirable for the p7100 pump which is easy to upgrade.

I bought this 93 in my signature for 1100 bucks. Runs great and has 170K miles on it. I know it will need parts and I'd enjoy the tinkering. Its more a toy than anything else and I'd consider putting it into something as the rest of the truck rusts away.

I was really just thinking parts and exploring the insides of the engine without having mine down while I figure things out.

I've looked around for a pump core and they seem to run in the area of 400.

If it hasn't been running in a while and has a blown headgasket it may have water in a cylinder and potentially rust. That being the case the block may be of little value..... beware.
