I keep hearing about people from other states buying things at "Costco". Being a true WalMart afficianado, I was just wondering if I was missing anything (I've never even SEEN a Costco).

After people kept raving how good Costco is I had to go shopping with a friend there. We went to Wal-Mart afterwards and almost everything she bought was cheaper at Wal-Mart,exact same items. This doesn't include that you have to pay to join Costco and pay a yearly fee. Costco does offer much more in the way of food than Wal-Mart(in my area anyway). Costco's food prices are very good when compared to my local supermarkets, but most things are in bulk.

My opinion?I don't really see the benefit of joining Costco, but will buy things there with someone who belongs. Costco has good deals on tires but after waiting two months for them to get my size in I gave up. Never been to one but have heard Costco is very similar to Wally World or Sams'Club.

I'm with dmurdock, never heard of costco much less seen one. Wal-marts are all over the place.

I hate paying a membership fee just to shop, but I still have a Costco membership. One thing I've noticed, we spend twice as much at Costco as we should. Time to burn the card.

We have 3 Costco stores on the island of Oahu (where Honolulu is located). These are the highest $$ grossing stores in the Costco chain. You can buy stuff that is on sale cheaper on the outside, but for everyday prices Costco is hard to beat. They also carry some stuff that I don't see at other discount stores. Price of oil is pretty good. I never returned anything I bought there but a friend of mine said their return policy is unreal. He took back a 2 year old computer that crashed and they gave him 100% of his purchase price. He then bought another computer there with 2. 5 times the computing power for $400 less. He also took back a 5 year old toaster that quit working and they gave him a new toaster! He also bought his lawn rakes at Sears with their lifetime warranty and never paid for a new rake for the past 10 years. He just takes them back to Sears for new ones. No wonder he has so much more money than me.

Walmart should be cheaper! Aisles barely wide enough for two people to pass each other. 15 minutes in a Walmart and I am crawling the walls. I will gladly pay a few cents more to shop elsewhere.

I did a little research on this topic and also thur in BiMart. This is a MW company $5. 00 membership. I checked Delo 400 15W-40 and Castrol Syntec oils.
Delo 400

Walmart $5. 87/gal, $1. 56/qt

Costco $5. 44/gal, $1. 36/qt $32. 66/6gal case

BiMart $5. 99/gal, $1. 49/qt $35. 94/6gal case

Castrol Syntec Quarts

Walmart $4. 44

Costco $4. 17 in 6qt case

Bimart $3. 99

So if you use Costco and Delo you save $1. 29/oil using gals. or $2. 40 using qts.
With Castrol Syntec it's $5. 40 getting your oil at Bimart
