Whats good Duel Batt. switch?

hooking up 2 optimas to use relay that connects 2 nd battery to main when driving
plan to use 2nd for camper, this way when
off 2 nd batt is disconnected fr 1st
tried ford starter sonid , i guess it did not like being in the switched on or together
position for very long, it burned up!!!
will ford solinoid work or whats a good
relay to use, i run 12v to it switched
so to close relay when ing switch is in
driving position,.

Most camper supply house's will have what your looking for. I picked up the one I have at a supply house in Coos Bay, OR. I have had these in the last three trucks with no problems. They look just like a regular selinoid (and may for all I know!)

They also make a solid state unit but I know someone that had problems with these. Thats why I stayed with the simple ones.

Paccool's suggestion on the camper supply is a good one. You might also try a battery shop, what you're looking for is a battery isolation solenoid. You might also be able to get a "series/parallel switch" to work for you. We use them here where I work and they enable our rigs to start on 24v but run on 12v.
