It is a very interesting point about children and food allergies. My question is if it's GMO related why aren't adults developing the same problem ? I recently watch a report on network news about children with nut allergies. The experiment revolved around giving young children small portions of nuts to raise their immunity. It was still being studied but looked promising. I'm certainly no scientist but my observation has always led me to the conclusion that a sterile environment isn't helpful to youngsters. Why do farm kids always seem to be healthy? Their around animals, manure, rusty metal, and all manner of debris. It seems that every family I know with children in a sterile home have constant trouble with infections of the eye, ear, throat, allergies, letc. I'm not against a clean house but foregoing owning a dog or cat because they shed may do more harm than good. My wife has a friend who won't let her kids play outside this time of year because of pollen. It doesn't affect the children any more or less than anyone else but she's afraid it might.

I don't think anyone's a fool for trying to eat healthy food. We keep a small garden and we buy our meat from local producers by halfs and quarters. Penny picked up exactly on my point. GMO feeds the world and if you are buying your food you're going to eat some. I think most of us are in more danger from distracted drivers than GMO food. There's no doubt older, non engineered vegetables taste better, and my in fact be better for you, but that route is land and labor intensive. Most of us work away from home and don't have the time to grow enough or hand prepare all that we consume. I'm sure Gail would admit when he drove for a living he couldn't have been as dedicated to his diet and where it came from as he is now. The way you folks eat dovetails with you new life in the mountains.

Something I've noticed over the last ten years or so are the health issues that kids and some adults are having. Some of it I blame on living in too sterile of an environment,..... weather tight homes, dual pane windows, rarely playing or spending time outside, taking antibiotics for viral infections, et cetera, et cetera. The other portion I think is too blame is fast food, wether it be from canned and boxed goods, or eating foods from restaurants on a regular basis.
