2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Whats That Noise?

I have developed a noise coming from my left front wheel.

Once per tire rotation I hear a swish-swish-swish.

I pulled the wheel to take a look. I have plenty of meat left on the brake pads. The caliper seems to be dragging a bit but not bad. When I spin the wheel, I dont hear the swish. Seems to only do it when the weight of the truck is on it.

Any opinions?

Warped rotor......

That would be my guess. I have a similar noise only more intense. I can feel the brakes pulse through the pedal now so I know it's warped bad. So much for drilled rotors.

swap your rims side to side and see if it follows the rim . i have stone crusher rims and two of them made rapid clicking noises, mainly turning. i first thought it was a wheel bearing noise but it was the rims. my rims were exchanged with no problems thru ups shipping. good luck

Who's rotors do you use? I am looking for aftermarket rotors and don't want to get junk.

I went with EGR.......

Now with all dairness I do not drive to save breaks and my truck weighs 11K lbs as a daily driver.



I went with the carbon kevlar pads and shoes. Drums turned and new drilled rotors in the front. When adjusted they seem to grab better. Worth the extra money..... Not that much better.



Had a heck of a time getting the rears adjusted properly. Took three tries. Self adjusters aren't worth a crap. I still give it as click or two every few thousand miles.



Rotors started to feel pulsed within 3K miles and have gotten progessively worse. Had new tires put on at 7K miles (after brakes) and checked out the pads. Not much left. I'll be lucky to get 12K miles out of this set. Pretty dissapointed with everything for that kind of money.



I'll probably turn the rotors soon and put new pads on the front. Not sure what I'll try next but I might as well go cheap and just keep replacing them. (Stock only lasted 20K miles).



Someone told me Napa makes a drilled and slotted rotor for our trucks for around $100 each. Way cheaper. I suppose that would depend on what year and 4X or not.



I'll have to do a search for some guy named Sam something I think. Supposedly one of the brake guru's around here. See what he has to say.
