need some help. I am getting noise when turning that sounds like it is under the steering colum. maybe a plastic sounding noise. maybe turn signal cancel sleeve or something else.

i also have a whirl type noise between 21-25 mph then it is gone

it is somewhat loud coming from middle to rear of truck. any ideas would be a big help on either noise.

thanks

Hoss

Since this is in the 2nd Gen forum, I'll guess you're talking about your '01 truck.

Without hearing the steering noise, my first guess would be either your clock spring is about to go (mine made a similar noise before giving up the ghost) or your intermediate steering shaft.

Sorry, I can't help on the other noise from the middle of your truck. Maybe your carrier bearing?

There was a recall.......

On the clock springs, unfortunately you'll have to make a trip to the DEALER (That was for Steve). Anyway it controlls all the functions from your steering wheel. ie: cruise and airbag.

Center of the truck could be the carrier bearing. Get under it and see if you have excessive play in the drive shaft near the bearing.
