Fellas, what kind of fuel additive should I run to help lube the Bosh pump and is a fuel pressure guage a good ides? Thanks fellas! Tim

Fuel additives

Tim

I read good things in a four wheeler mag about Stanadyne's additives. I just found some at my injection shop, only used a little so I can't give any opinions yet.

Say, how do you like your airbag set up (I haul wood and plan on a plow, my dream is for 4)?

As far as the fuel pressure guage, I read a thread about some one getting bad fuel and being able to diagnosis it with the pressure gauge right off. I am betting, knock on wood, that it might not happen to me. Otherwise, I guess it would tell you when to change your fuel filter, instead of doing it everyother oil change.

Stanadyne performance forumula is THE best. . That goes for all the things you want additives for:

Anti-gel

lubricant

water protection

cetane improvement

smoke reduction

Period.

It's not the cheapest, but I refuse to use or try anything else.

Art, I put the airbags on to haul wood also and they work great. It is real easy to overload the truck, however, the back doesn't sag at all. It is a very easy install. Good luck. Tim

Nomofo, this is what I was looking for as I can't find it at a truck stop. I will order some Monday. Did you put those lucas injectors in yet? You will like them! Do you use a fuel pressure guage? Thanks a bunch Tim:) :)

Tim, glad to time that right. You can order online right now if you don't mind using credit card online. No guage and no Lucas' yet. Want to build exhaust and get timing squared away first. Family feeling jealous of truck! :( Not sure whether patience is going to kill or save me!

Stanadyne gets my vote. I have used it for over 120,000 trouble free miles. I decided to use it when they lowered the sulpher content in the mid 90s.

Happy Trails

Bob

;) Nomofo, I really am not comfy with ordoring on line, I get the phone numbers and order, just paranoid i guess! Thanks Tim

ok, newbie question, sorry, i am a 24 valver as you can see. why are you guys monitoring fuel press, what should it be and where are you putting the sending units. asking for my pop, he has a 92, and i am slowly but surely turning him to the dark side of bombing the heck out of it.

:) Hi Rubberneck, I don't know about others, but my concern for a pressure guage for the fuel is the Bosh pump. It doesn't like to be starved for fuel as it depends on fuel for life. A bad batch af fuel would drop the pressure and you could fix before a serious problem occurs. Now fellas, if I am worring needlessly, let me know that I'm being over cautious. You guys know. Tim

ok, so you guys are doing it for the same reason we are, just in case the lift pump goes out, or the filter clogs on ya. so what should the pressure be on a first gen, and where are you putting the sending unit

Fuel Pressure Guage

On my old truck I had to change the fuel pump right away when I got it because it was not pumping at all. The truck still ran fine and had decent milage and power without a lift pump. The injection pump hasn't given any troubles yet. So I don't know how much good a guage would be.
