What is the hose coming off the back side of the P7100? It looks like a JIC fitting on the pump with a braided line connected? I'm trying to replace the return line and I need to remove the hose from the fitting but I don't want to cause more problems.

Thanks!

Scott

Thanks for your reply Mr. Donnelly.

Last night I found I had a bad fuel leak. A couple of months ago I had the drain valve on the fuel filter go bad so I figured that was it. In the day light today I found it was the fuel return line. I had just read your article in issue 44 and I remembered seeing the section on re-routing the return line. Since it was a Saturday I could not find the hose barb for the banjo fitting so I took the overflow valve out, took the oil feed line loose, and bent the metal line back and forth until it broke off at the large tab on the side of the pump. I cut it off, flipped it over, and slid the hose onto it. Like you instructed I cut the rubber hose off as far up as I could reach it and disconnected the quick connect fitting, and slid the other end of the hose onto that metal line. It may be overkill but I used two hose clamps on each end to secure the hose to the metal lines.

Thank you for sharing your experience with us in your articles and here on the forums. Once again my TDR membership has saved me hundreds of dollars. :D

Thanks again,

Scott

Most stuff was moved by the end of July. Because of my knee surgery, I moved to Albuquerque about 3 weeks ago. I still need to make a couple more trips back and forth over the next couple months, that is, as soon as I regain enough range of motion in my knees to work the clutch!

Scott, when you get a chance, get a hose barb since the fairly high pressure (30 psi) may cause the hose to creep off the end of the line you cut off near the overflow valve. Hose shops and some Bosch dealers should have it.
