I have 77,000 miles on my G-56 and most all have been run with synchromesh oil. I drained the ATF at about 10,000 miles and pioured all 6 qts in the fuel tank of my old 240D Mercedes. Ran like a TOP! Ready for another service on the G56. I am thinking either staying with the synchromesh oil or Delvac 50 synthetic. My 3rd synchro is a little glitchy when it is cold. Seems guys are leaning to the Delvac. Thanks for any QUALIFIED help.

I'm running Mobile Syn Trans 50 with one extra quart. No problems for me but I don't live in a cold area either. I seen some guys that live in cold areas recommending Redline MT GL4.

I tried every oil that was recommended on here only one that kept it quiet and allowed it to shift right on cold days was Pensoil Syncromesh. That was on my 05 and 12. The 13 has a slush box.

I use TORCO RTF. Works great. I started using this at 40 something thousand miles. I changed once because my shift tower boot had fallen apart. I replaced the boot with a CV boot. I changed the TORCO RTF and replaced in kind. The truck is approaching 110,00 miles.

I ran Pennsoil before the smf conversion. The marbles in the transmission noise led me to go to a thicker oil.

Ive ran straight 50 delvac with 1 qt extra and on the latest pickup ran a mix of delvac 50 with 3 qts of rp syncromax with an extra qt. Both trans shift fine in cold weather and both of the pickups had conversions to a smf with a reduction of gear noise

Is this in the 2006 with 224,000 miles? Original G-56?

I used CKelley1's mix for 5K miles and switched to strait Mobil syn Delvac 50 and like it so far. Trans is quieter at idle and shifts no different, but I live in a warm climate. I have an oil pump with a cooler, and the oil doesn't transfer the heat as well, but a big test coming in a couple of weeks when I bring my 5ver home to work on it and get it ready for May Madness.

What kind of oil pump setup are you using ,if I may ask?. I have thought of having a driveline powered pump like I have seen on some of the older NASCAR racers. Do you just circulate the oil through a cooler and dump it back into the sump or is the cooled oil return set up to dump on the high gear set? Pictures???? Please???
