Thanks, TDR Staff

School was not like this when I was going.

America has another ..........

What is the highest speed you can run legally were you live? It's 65mph around here. :)

I was in Tennessee this weekend and noticed it was 70mph there.

Why does it differ from State to State? Shouldn't it be the same in every State?

Just kind of curious.

Speed limit whats that?

We get to run 70mph on the I-state,65 on improved 4-lane state roads with a median.

Alabama is just now getting up to par on having improved 4-lane state roads.

We still don't require vehicle inspections that I feel allows death traps to remain on our hiways.

Hey illflem,is the state patrol very strick on speeders in Montana since they now have speed limits where they used to not?

Tim, they're sticky on the two lane roads but on the interstate 90 mph seems to be the norm. Heck Montana's so big and empty that you can't get anywhere in a reasonable amount of time at the speed limit. Still no open container law.

In the 20 years I lived in Alabama, we didn't need vehicle inspection. We still don't, no matter what state you live in. We need less government regulation, not more ! Vehicle inspection to get "death traps" off the road, will only lead to more and more restrictive laws.

Vehicle enforcement in some states is getting very, very oppressive, especially for the high dollar/high visibility vehicles like our trucks. Drive a Corvette, or a fast truck, you're gonna get busted for as little as 5 over the limit in Kentucky.

Central Texas 70 days 65 night(Farm Roads is lower). But these idiots around here don't know but one speed-fast. Take off as fast as they can from the light and be right on your a**,hit the brakes to stop for the next light and it goes on and on. Brakeman Sam Peterson should have his shop down here. He would get rich off these people working on there brakes. :D

CO

75 in Colo, on the Interstates, 65 on two lanes. We have the "buy a new car laws" in C/S and Denver ( so-called emission laws). They did away with vehicle inspection laws a few years back. It was a joke anyway, same as emission rip off.

75 on the interstate, 65 on secondaries in Wyo. In the early '90's the Feds had control over what the speed limit was nationwide, then stepped down and let each state decide what to post. Wyoming changed their signs the next day:cool:

It has been proven that there are fewer accidents on Wy. interstates since raising the speed limit.

Probably because getting between two points in the vast west faster gives folks less time to fall asleep.

I drive 95 here in CT all the time and i dont remember what the speed limit is here... . I THINK its 65. I know thats how fast i go.

Highest legal speed in Oregon is 65 on rural interstates. If you try to do 65 you will be run over. At 70 on weekends 7 out of every 10 cars will pass me most are probably doing 80+. During the week that ratio drops to 3 out of 10. My guess is pros verses amatures. :)

Happy trails

Bob

I'll never, ever, ever understand why we let the lawmakers pass laws we are NOT going to obey..... speed limits? Nobody obeys them. It's simply a system the republic can use to oppress us...

Points on your license lead to higher insurance rates. The system bleeds you for money every time you turn around... and we let them. Why?

Skydiver, maybe my words were a little harsh. if so, I apologize. I miss Alabama, the low, low taxes there, among many other things... try $900-1000 per year tax on your truck just to buy a license plate, that's what we have in Kentucky. It goes by appraised value, same as your house. Boats, RV's and motorcycles too. There's more, it gets worse. Some states are worse than others. I do tend to get a little hot under the collar about it.

I think you're right Bill. That still is the big killer around here is falling asleep at the wheel, but usually people die because they don't have their seatbelt on. Whitmore will attest to that. When I worked for WYDOT traveling around the state I determined the average distance between towns was approx. 100 miles. That must have been how long a set of wagon wheels was good for back in the days. You know you are from Wyoming if you drive 300 miles to watch your kid play in a basketball game against a nearby town.

BTW I can go 75 in second gear with 2 grand left on the tach and 4 more gears on the Ninja. :D

Here in MN, the max speed limit is 70 once you get out of the Minneapolis metro. In town, the best they'll let you do is 60. Unfortunately, due to the population growth in this market, the fastest you can usually go is about 15-20 during the early morning, lunch time or rush hour. Years back, they under-built the freeway system and now we're paying the price for it by having increased traffic. There is ongoing construction to repair damaged roads and to try and increase traffic flow on others, but it seems like a lost cause most of the time. Up here, they say we have two seasons... winter and road construction. How true
