A customers kaw voyager while they were sitting right next to me. Not my falt that the bars were never tighened down. Bad news is your bike just fell off but the good news is the strap that I had around the rear rim is holding it and draging it down the road behind us. No I didn't tell him that but I did think it when it was all over.

CB gossip on a trip this year, a guy that hauls collector cars told me about a fellow driver that had just lost a Ferrari off the back of a trailer at 60 mph. He wasn't sure if that guy still had a job. That would be a pretty expensive OOPS! I launched a 5' high chest of drawers off a trailer on a very bumpy road. Worst part, my mother-in-law was following me and saw it fall off.

I had just picked up two Dodge doors and was delivering them to our shop for my truck, when one bunjee cord broke and the door flew out! I hit the brakes and pulled into the median, I grabed the door and pulled it off the road. There was only one ding. WOW I was so relieved that I had not just wasted 500 bucks. I have never been so lucky

OK here it goes. I had eight,seven foot high pallets of brand new folded down cardboard apple boxes,was only going about a mile and half with them didn't tie them down,they were secured to the pallets with plastic strapping. They didn't really fall off,it was more like how you fan out a deck of cards,left a trail of 2000 boxes for about 1/8 mile. That wouldn't have been so bad,I didn't need them, was only moving them because the building they were stored in was being torn down,could of just drove on. Only problem was every box had my name and address printed on it. The next problem was it happened on US Hwy 97 on a two lane bridge over the Colombia River on the Labor Day weekend. I just wanted to crawl in a hole and die. Took two hours to pick them up and haul them off. Out of the several hundred cars that got stopped by my mess only one guy got out to help me. Right about when we were done a big gust of wind came and blew a couple hundred boxes in the river. People still rib me about finding boxes with my name on them along the banks of the Colombia.

I "lost" about 40 pallets on the Bronx Queens Expressway doring rush hour. It was not a day I'd say I was popular.

I also lost 4 or 5 drums{ahem} of asphalt on the Mass turnpike. I dont think it would have been a big deal, but it was 0 out this day. Stuff shattered all over and caused a HUGE backup. I got pulled over about 10 miles down the road by a trooper. He asked if there was another truck hauling what I had on. (I wasnt aware of what was going on yet)
So, I told him the truth. "I dont know" He then told me why. I proceeded to Peabody. When I got there, they unloaded me and told me I was short. They told me I was missing a half pallet on the passenger side. It then dawned on me that where I pulled over, the trooper couldnt have got a good look at the pass side.
It was pretty funny at the time.
I've had my sand net blow off my dump trailer and land on a pack of import cars on Rt 295 @ 70 MPH. That was pretty funny at the time too. #ad

When I was trucking in the early 70's, I had a tandem dump truck(Cummins) and pup trailer. I just left the Flatirons pit in Boulder with a load of squeegee, going down 55th about 40mph. I stuck a cigarette in my mouth and reached over and pushed in the lighter. I heard the lighter pop out and without looking, reach over to get it but it didn't pull out. The pup tailgate switch was a push-pull switch just above the lighter and I pulled it instead. Luckily nobody was behind me - I spread about 10 tons very neatly for a block. I didn't stick around for any ovations! There were 40 trucks on that run and by the next day there wasn't a speck left on the road. That's my story and I'm sticking to it!! Craig

Was hauling demolished portable trailer sidings/asbestos/and drywall on a 15 foot flatbed hooked up to my bosses 99' Cummins Ram... saw a 4x6 or so piece of drywall catch air and land on the windshield of the car behind me. . needless to say i didn't bother looking back cuz' i wouldn't have gotten out of that one with both legs!!dohhhh!

I lost a ramp off my car trailer years ago on a sunday afternoon on the Tacoma Narrows Bridge, the worst part was I went back to get it, on the way back across the bridge I saw where it was, underneath a Volvo that had stopped because of it, about 10 cars had driven over it already but they decided to stop, they had been rearended by a station wagon that had been rearended by an old cheby biscane that had at least 10 migrant farm workers in it(and no insurance), the girl driving the station wagon had her learners permit and Dad was sitting with her and Mom was in the back. Being brought up to be responsible for my actions I came up to the scene and picked up my ramp and then got a ticket for failure to secure my load, I was sure worried that I was going to get sued but the officer told me that since the ramp hadn't actually hit anyone the accident wasn't my fault. To this day I still feel responsible, and very sorry for that poor young girl.

I remember that mess, I was behind about 3 cars. A friend of mine once stopped to help someone who had run out of gas in the middle of the Narrows bridge. He had a gallon of gas in the trunk so quickly tried to open the trunk, droped his keys and they fell throught the grating to the water. He ended up with a ticket and a large towing bill for trying to help. I had the hood blow up on my VW bug while crossing that darn bridge in the early 70s, ran out of gas in the middle in the late 80s. If your gonna have a problem, Murphy is going to make sure it happens on that bridge

Almost lost a trailer. Glad to have safety chains.
Most racent I was pulling a snowmobile trailer when a wheel came loose. I had no tire lug wrench.
So I had to stop every 2 miles to tighten them up. I had to use a spark plug socket and screw driver going through the socket like a T wrench. After 10 miles and 5 stops and two hours finally made it home.

Think of "an object at rest tends to remain at rest... " my brother loaded a cat on a goose neck trailer. He did not leave it in gear or tie it down (as he was not going far). He was on a slight incline and when he took off the pickup and trailer moved.

I had the 2 tires fall off the trailer on the way to telare with my truck on it going around 65 behind my moms extended cab dually thankfully it went straight until I got stopped. I then realized the sparks had started a fire back were it happened. Oh what fun. I happend I took one of the tires and rims and hub off the other side and obout 10 miles before telare again the axle broke so I had to put that hub and assembly on the front axle. Man I was glad to make it home. #ad
