What's this about a Tach for a 93 W250?

My 93 W250 4x4 with an Auto transmission doesnt have a tach on it. Was the Tach a factory option? Did it only come with 5 Speeds? Where is it mounted and how can I get one?

Not sure about the Auto's but 5sp came prewired for a tach under the dash. Been awhile but I think it was a 4 pin connector close to the driver side kick panel. Pretty sure my Uncles 93 didn't have a tach std or factory option but you could have a dealer install one.

Rambill and Wirenut, I purchased the factory tach for my 93 direct from Dodge dealer 2 years ago. All I had to do was plug it in, the wiring was there under the dash. Mounted mine on the steering column. Good Luck, Rick.

For my '93, I bought an Isspro tach. from a cummins dealer assuming I would have to install a pick up and wire it. When I read the directions that came with the Isspro, it told me exactly where to find the connector under the dash (as I recall right behing the steering colum), and the tach plugged right in. The only installation involved was mounting the "cup" on top the colum. The truck was fully preped for it and not a hint in the owners manual.

Thanks for the info guys. I ordered my factory Tach today. $116 Bucks + tax(Ouch) Where and how did you guys mount the tach? Any tricks I should be aware of?

The original diagram shows the tach mounted on the dash, near the windshield post. The is where the wires are designed for that area. Mopar only offered this as an add on. I bought mine from a third party, but paid 250. 00, so you got a real deal. I think you will be real pleased it is a high quality piece.

A friend of mine has his mopar tach mounted on the floor, on the center hump, just to the right of throttle. It's very hard to see!I was going to mount my VDO Vision series on the steering column but never could get it to work, need to borrow my friends to see if it's the tach or if it's my computer.

Hello. . My truck has the mopar tach mounted to the left of the steering wheel on top of the dash about 2 inches to the right of the a pillar. . I didnt do the istrallation so Im afraid I cant be of any help there but it is easy to view and definitely is a quality tach!! Wish I could send a pic but no technology for that here. .

Rambill, I mounted the tach on my 93 on the steering column, I did not want to drill into the dashboard. We used ty-wraps+ some metal shim stock to support the tach. The speedometer view is partially blocked at 70 mph reading,I rarely run at that speed!Rick.

Hi fellas, I personally have an Isspro tach in a Banks pod with 3 other gauges, however I have seen the factory tach in action on a '92. I met the guy at a rest stop and I spotted it on his dash, and he let me peek at it since I've only seen it in a catalog before that. it was mounted on the dash over the left A/C vent, on an angle pointed towards the driver. I would imagine you could put this wherever you want. Yes the harness near the collumn has a plug for a tach, ready to go. $ for $ I like my Isspro better.

Put an ISSPRO tach on my 93 last year and still have not got it working. It was part of a 3 gauge pod that I bought from US Gear. It is connected to the proper wire under the dash but there is no signal. Replaced the crank position sensor, didn't help. Finally got US Gear to send me a magnet kit to mount on the damper, just havn't done it yet. There is a lot of discussion on this in past posts, do a search and see what you can find.

Hey guys I thought you might be interested in how I made out with getting a factory tach. No luck! I called 7 dealerships in 6 states that, according to the MOPAR parts computer, had 1st Gen tachs. I was a dime short and a day late in all cases. Turns out that all of the parts departments said they were receiving alot of calls for this part. I guess the word does get out.

Just for info to everyone, Banks makes a Tach and a dashtop mount that plugs into the stock tach wiring. And the wiring should be on all 93's, auto's and manuals. Mine is auto and has it just next to steering column at bottom of dash.
