Just dropped truck off at dealer. Tech said that the 245A had to do with an "EGR Open" problem. He also said the the 'Rev A' flash should fix that proglem as well as a multitude of other 'sins' that Chrysler commited against the 6. 7 engine.

Last night while driving down the highway the check engine light (refered to as "MIL" in my manual) came on and stayed lit for 20 minutes. This morning it was gone.

What is the process for determining what the exact error code is/was?

" just popped that code also

Go here to get the code... https://www.turbodieselregister.com...ions-2007-5/187107-mil-light.html#post1794740 and then search for the code in this forum.

Thanks! Like others in the referenced thread, my truck doesn't display the codes when I do the trip odometer/key cycle process.

I asked my dealer rep who said that the truck does not store codes, so if the MIL light is off, the code is gone. Not sure if I buy this. My '03 CTD definately "stored" the codes. In fact, I used my Bullydog downloader to view and erase them.

Truck seems to be running great and as near as I can tell, goes into regen regularly based on 1,000+ EGR temps

Sure would like to know what triggered that MIL:confused:

My light came on and the problem was soot on the exhaust temp sensor. They also did a reflash to Rev. B.

I have 4600 miles on the truck now and this afternoon, the ETC light came on when I started the truck and stayed on. When I cycle the key, I get a code of P0513. Which will probably mean that I have a bad electronic throttle control valve and it will need to be replaced.

I have read other threads that talked about this in the past.

My check engine light came on at 5,000 miles. The light went off before I could get it to dealer. The truck does store the codes that they can bring up and it was EGR cooler valve. Replaced the valve. The next week we left on a trip to Wyoming & S. Dakota and at about 7,500 miles light came on again. First thing Monday morning, I called Dodge Town in Rapid City, S. Dakota to see if they could scan it for me and if it wasn't a major problem I would have it fixed when we got home in Indiana. Was told by Dodge Town to drop off on Tuesday and I could pick it up on Friday. What??? This is ridiculous, I was 1,000 miles from home and this is the kind of service that they offer. I then called my dealer where I purchased the truck in Indiana and talked to service rep. Told him about light coming on, he said probably emissions related and if truck was running fine should be okay to drive. Light went off after about 50 miles of driving. Then called Chrysler customer service and filed complaint about Dodge Town. But I should have gone to Auto Zone as they scan vehicles free of charge. Took truck to dealer after arriving home. ECM detected no boost pressure. Possibly waste gate didn't seal 100% on start up. About a week later light came on again. Took back to dealer, code P245A came up again, soot on EGR temp sensor was removed and cleaned per a new Dodge bulletin.

Brad, the only code I get is P061A and assumed it had to do with the ETC light. I have also figured out the only time I get the ETC light is when I first start the truck and then immediately turn the high idle on. If I stay off the high idle for a few seconds it doesn't come on.

Passivity vs. NOT!

I asked my dealer rep who said that the truck does not store codes, so if the MIL light is off, the code is gone. Not sure if I buy this.

I'm going out on a limb here, since I certainly don't know much about these trucks. But I'm going to say something based on the belief that it is fairly well established that these trucks DO "store" codes.

If this is so, and a "dealer rep" says it is not,... then he is either unacceptably(although sometimes understandably) ignorant, or, even more unacceptably, lying! (Strange how non PC this simple descriptive term has become).

Either of these is something that D/C should (should!) correct, FIRMLY.

And we should not condone-by-acceptance such treatment. (There is something to the old saying that one deserves the treatment one accepts. )

I would appreciate it if someone knows, and will post, the proper party in the D/C organization to whom complaints about such experience should be addressed.

In the final sense, D/C's real quality-control division is US. ;)

[Your tolerance may vary. I am impatient with incompetents, and infuriated by liars. Groveling apologies to all concerned if I am mistaken in any of this. ]

each time my check engine lite came on, (3 so far) the lite was off by the time I got to the dealer and yes, the ecm does store the codes. the number to call to make a complaint is 800-992-1997. this is customer assistence. they will assign a file no. to you, but don"t know what they do with complaint after that.

Is there a way for us owners to check codes without going to dealer?

Thanks for the assistance number Glachner! ;) [Sorry for the delayed response]

I've made a copy of your post and put it in my "truck" file.
