I had my dealer draft up an order today and he could not order adjustable pedals.

He mentioned that he had another customer's truck on order with a Laramie pkg (includes adj pedals) and that customer may be getting a credit in lieu of pedals.

Anybody know if they'll be orderable again? Or are they being discontinued?

Thanks,

BB

BBenson,

I was not aware of a adjustable pedal problem. I ordered my truck about 2 months ago and it is scheduled to be built on Tues. My dealer did not mention any problem about the truck or any options that may not be available. It could be that they had a limited number of components available and the supply has been exhausted. I did read on a fleet order page that they were not supposed to be available until October I think?? and I was surprised that my truck went through as built.

I came across the same thing this week. My dealer sent an email to a contact at DC and the response was there is a 8 to 10 week restriction on the pedals. This started the first week of July so by the end of September the pedals should be back on the order list. I called DC customer service and they did not know about this restriction. But when the dealers input the truck order via computer a credit is given for the pedals due to the restriction.

Richard :(

I was glad they were on restriction when I ordered. I'll take the credit. I wanted the Laramie but I don't need no stinkin adjustable pedals! Them's fer short people! ;)

I'm 6 feet, is that short?

You're in denial. . Go drive a adjustable pedal truck for an hour, you will be amazed at how much you will use them. Its nice to move the seat all the way back to stretch out the arms, yet still hit the pedals. . Yet when I'm crawling up a trail, I can move the seat forward, and push the pedals in too. .

Denial denial denial Oo.

It is if you got 18 inch legs! :p

I like to drive with the seat all the way back and the non-adjustable pedals give me more leg room than the adjustable ones adjusted all the way down. If I want to be closer for more control (for instance off-road), I just slide the seat up a couple notches. As they say, to each their own! :)

hmmm, the adjustable pedals per the service manual say " are adjustable from 4 inches forward to 4 inches rearward of center of the non-adjustible pedal assembly.....

So how can they give you more room? New math?

I have them, but would not order them again. I'm not an unusual height (5'10"), nor do I have unusually short or long legs. However, I like to sit relatively straight up, and closer in. I have my adjustable pedals all the way down, and would still like them down a little more. Not worth the money.

Adjustables are OK, mine have had slight sway since new. They don't feel solid to me, and when you look at them, they are made of thin, cheap looking material... . I could live w/o them.

If they could go 4" further toward the firewall than the nonadjustable ones, the pedals wouldn't have any room for travel. Last I checked, there wasn't ~7" of space between the gas pedal and the floor.

I'm six feet as well. The adjustable pedals, aside for being essential for my 5'-1" wife, are a great way to add one more degree of comfort on a long drive. Being able to change leg position allows for more comfort on the long hauls. I agree; once you've had 'em, you'll never go back. :)

Adjustable pedals

;)

The adjustable pedals were ordered on my new 2004. My wife is short and it is very convenient for her. I am of average height. Its a matter of opinion on this topic, but I deem it was a good choice. Nothing "Mickey Mouse" about this installation.

UMMMmmm - I guess they don't offer cruise control on them there new-fangled trucks? THAT'S how *I* adjust for more comfort on long trips, and certainly don't want/need no steeeenking adjustable pedals... ;) :D :p

ah, 4 inches is 3 inches less than 7 inches (last time I checked). They work. :-laf

My point is, there's NOT 7" behind the gas pedal of a non-adjustable pedal configuration. There's more like 3". If the adjustable pedals can move 4" forward of the non-adjustable pedals, that means the gas pedal would be -1" from the firewall... um... . maybe I missed something. .

Gary, I guess you have a six speed or no hills where you drive, huh?

Actually I think Gary has a good point. I learned to drive 95% with my hands on my '99 with auto. Hills and curves are actually the perfect place to use cruise control. On all but the steepest hills or sharpest curves, you can usually downshift and cancel cruise to slow down enough... maybe just a few taps of the brake... one more reason I want an exhaust brake. Then when it's time to go up the next hill or it straightens out, just whack the set/accel button a dozen times or so and no need for pedals at all. Certainly no need for adjustable pedals in this case, even for the few hills or turns you do need to hit the brake on. I think it comes down to driving style somewhat... lots of guys have to accellerate like mad on a short straight that leads into a sharp turn, then mash the brakes hard before the turn, then mash the gas out of the turn. I prefer more of the smooooth style, where if I know a turn is coming up, I sacrifice a few seconds of time and just maintain speed, saving brakes and saving fuel. Anyways now I'm off the subject, but the point is, for those of you that like the adjustable pedals, COOL! You might be weird but that's why they're an option, too bad for you they're on restriction! :p ;) <just messin around, lighten up!>
