I was cruisin down the freeway @ 55 (not towing or hot roddin) when a slight pop sounded and a shudder felt then no gears whatsoever.

I know about the 5th gear nut loosening and allowing the gear to slide away.

But I have no response out of ANY gears. The gear shift will feel like it's moving gears around just like normal -- but nada thing when the clutch is dis-engaged.

Are the input shaft splines completly striped?

This has been a very smooth shifter till the very end.

Any suggestions;

-Rebuild it? (It has 220k miles)

-Buy new (Are they still sold new)

-Buy rebuilt (Then by whom)

While I'm at it what 'stock feeling' clutch should hold 400-450 hp (I have a PDR turbo installed and a #10 and 3k in the box waiting for a proper clutch)

Any ideas will be much appriciated.

On a smaller scale, I had my car do that and it turned out that the hub broke on the disc. New clutch, problem solved. I suppose it can happen to these trucks too. I do not believe the spline will strip. Here's a picture of the old clutch and the replacement I put in was much stronger in the area the stocker broke. This is for my car not my truck.

I agree with HSmith. I had both a clutch disc failure and a broken input shaft on my '99 (at seperate times and both over 500 miles from home). :{ Mike

Just a quick guess I would say the input shaft If you are hotrodding it get the 1 3/8 input shaft and a sbc with the spring center damper a lot easier on the input and sycros

Similar happened to me

Pulling out in Nevada. Next AM after hard pull over Rockies.

On cruise at 62, then revv-NOTHING. Pulling in flat at 7 PSI boost towing a 31 foot enclosed GN. Not pulling hard at all at time. Guess damage was accumulative.

Gears had teeth cleaned off them. Harmonic vibrations and heat had annealed teeth and rIIIIPPPP. Gone.

Fluid was full and clean. Clutch and input shaft perfect.

Stuff happens.

I have a set of coolers to install on mine when I get time.

HEAT. NV4500 killer.

Transfer case popped into neutral? Don't laugh, it happens.

Edit: Only 5 speed in your sig is 2wd so I'm changing my gess to the center breaking out of the clutch disk.

Its the clutch disk hub ... I'll lay $10 on it. Same thing happened to me on my test drive after installing 370's and a PDR HX40 turbo and #10 plate.

You need to have a 13. 25" (or 13. 5" can't remember what the size is) clutch and flywheel drilled and installed. Southbend or Luk. Get the clutch used on the 6 speed trucks.
