Fuel Pressure Hose

So i e-mail a vendor about purchasing a new fueling box. At this point i will not name the vendor, but the gentlemen e-mails me back and proceeds to inform me that the K&N filter that i have installed on my truck, causes the MAP sensor to plug up and increase the exhaust temps after using it a while. So long story short whats up with that. Has any one had this problem. Because i have never had the problem yet. And i have used an oil type of filter on all of my stuff for years. Is there somthing im missing here ? :--)

I can see maybe a residue on the IAT sensor. That can cause a slight rise in egt being it's preventing a proper reading of the intake air temp. K&N do however tend to build up oil deposits on the turbine's blades tho. <hr>

so youre getting a Power max, aaay

good choice, dont let Mark get you down :D just tell him you'll take your chances with the POS oiled cotton filter and his BAD A$$ box.

He's inhaled a lot of diesel in his years, you know :D

Been there, done that

Had to replace two Map/Boost sensors in my truck because of junk K&N. I don't know what was really up because some people have had this problem and some have not. I only oiled the intake side of the filter and it still sucked the oil through the intercooler and gummed up the sensor. Mark at TST told me the same think I said "yea right, I'll take my chances" a month later I replaced the second sensor. :{ Well needless to say I now have a used K&N filter sitting on top of the beer frig and I think it will soon be going to the garbage can. #@$%!

Some have had problems and some haven't. I'm not saying that K&N's are junk (not going there again):-{} but i wont use them in my turbo diesel but I do use them on my 2 ATV's and my Scags mower. they have woked great in all 3 of those machines just not stout enough for the big Dodge. ;)

Gummed up my IAT also.....

Had it on for about a month and didn't like it. Switched to the BHAF. I think the BHAF is the best non-oiled filter for our application.

K&N

Mike, As you can see by my signature I now have a BHAF. I had a K&N for about 10000 miles and noticed the white residue on the turbo blades. The thiung that disturbed me most was how fast the oil turned black. My soninlaw noticed the same on his Dodge. The oil stays cleaner longer with the BHAF. It obviously does a better job for a filters intended purpose. :) :D

My BS meter is on high alert!

I have had two different types of K&N air filters on my Ram... the current one has been on since my Air Bulldog induction hood was installed (1. 8 years ago). Since then I have replaced my (seemingly) dirty IAT sensor which made ABSOLUTELY NO DIFFERENCE in engine operation or mileage even though I use my exhaust brake EVERY day and have had one of my K&N air filters in place for at least the last 50k mi. Also, my pristine, operating room clean, chrome plated PDR HX35 Super Turbo is TOTALLY free of any kind of oil or other foreign material (i. e. you could easily eat off of it!). Sorry, I'm not buyin' it for a second!

With that, I'd tell TST I was going to purchase an Edge Comp instead! Heck, it's a better fueling module anyway!

PS: I have oil analysis reports to substantiate the high quality level of air filtration my K&N air filter provides.

Hey John,

Just curious, what has been your silicon ppm? I have the AFE 0880 equivalent and my silicon ppm has been very consistent @ 8ppm. I'd like to see it a little lower than that although 8 is not too bad... . Both samples were Mobil Delvac 1 sythetic @ 6000mi.

Don't Think he would care

I don't think Mark Chaple and TST would care if you didn't buy their box or not. Mark told me he had seen a couple of Boost/Map sensors go bad and had seen a lot of residue from the K&N's in the intercooler lines and on the turbo fan blades. I didn't beleive him and it cost me two sensors and one bill from Cummins for $258 for the labor to figure out what the problem was. :( That was enough reason for me to take out a $34 oiled filter and put in a paper filter. If I would have listend to Mark I would have saved myself a lot of money. Why exactlly is the Edge Comp a better box:confused: I guess I'm missing something. I like my PM2 and don't think there is a thing wrong with it. It's been in my truck for 50K and it will be in there until I can get a new clutch and then I will upgrade to the PM3. :D Maybe the Edge Comp box just doesn't produce enough boost to draw the oil off the filter. :-laf
