Noticed yesterday that the thermometer in the trip computer seems to think that the current temps in the Pacific NW are from -5 to +5. It isn't stuck on one temp so it sits there and fluctuate between temps. What could cause this? Won't take it to the dealer so I need to get it fixed. Please help!:{ :{

Trip Temp

The sensor for the Temp input on the computer is mounted under the hood near the front, that's why at idle temp goes up as it picks up radiator heat. Your sensor could be bad, if out of warantee, I think it cost about $15. 00

Since I am trying to install a trip comp in my truck, I just happen to know, dealer wants about 17. 00 for the Ambient Temperature Sensor, located on an L bracket attached to your hood, just behind the grill.

Sorry I don't have my bill with me or I could give you exact figures and the part #.

Has anyone tried to relocate the sensor for more accurate readings. Figure if I have to replace it then I might as well relocate it. :)

Did it get bumped to the metric settings?

It is just a thermister/ temp sensitve resistor. Mine reads high in most temps so I may relocate it or recal it.

I think the factory location is about the best. It does see a little rad temp under some conditions but where else could you put it?

It needs good air flow and wouldn't look good in front of the grill.

Hay what about a free pyro! Just JB weld it to the e-manifold pre turbo. In a week or so the plastic burn smell would go away and you could report you exhaust temps to your buddy in Canada in celsius.
