I'm interested specifically in the economy you get with your 1st gen truck. Polls have been done in the past... but thought I'd try to get a more recent one going...

I'm looking for your "mostly highway" empty driving, not stop and go in town or what you get with the 32 foot 5er on the back, or rockcrawling in Utah :)

I used to get about 18. 5 to 19, that steadily decreased as my pump died. My new pump and injectors from Big Don are just on so I will let you know how it goes. Taking daughter to Grandma's today with full tank.

????

I was at the pumps one day and a fellow with a crew cab duelly 2 wd chevy that had a 6. 2 in it he asked me what kind of fuel economey I was getting I sad 18-19 on the big road he said he was luckey to get 14 going down hill with no wind, hahahah. Does eney body know what the duraslug or the whatstroke gets??? just wondering********Justin

My highway mileage is 21 to 22 running empty at 65 to 70, towing mileage 12. 5 to 14. 5 depending on where I am traveling and in town mileage is 17 to 18. Overall mileage for the past 140,000 + miles is 18. 4. This is suported by fuel records from day one - I bought the truck new.

All mod's coupled with responsible driving habits have only improved my mileage:)

Happy Trails

Bob

I drive 75% highway, and I get 17-18 mpg. But I get the same when I drive all city or all highway. I don't tow very much, so I couldn't tell you what I would get. This is at 6500 feet (Colorado Springs, Colorado and east of there. ) This is at 65 mph, and my rpms are at about 2100. My truck is 99% stock. My tires are LT235-85-r16. See my sig for veh details.

Ol' Blue (89 2wheel drive 5 speed 3. 54 gears and GV overdrive) gets @ 24mpg back and forth to work and has gotten near 27mpg on interstate run to huntsville Al and back. She never gets below 21 even when I am heavy footed. Got 17. 5 on a run from northeast TN to nashville with a 24 gooseneck trialer empty (4500lbs. ) then put a 5000lb. tractor on her and came home. Thought 17. 5mpg round trip at 75mph was pretty good. For comparison, my 2000 2500 quad shortbed4x4 gets 18. 5 running empty.

89 w-250. 727, 3. 55s, 255/85 16 bfg s. normally 21 to 24 empty. 1 time 27. 6o mph with corrected speedo/odo

Highway driving 65-70mph=19-20mpg, 62mph=23mpg, and twice

@58mph=25mpg(could have had a tailwind too?) on cruise with 2300# in the truck(8300#gross), 5sp, 3. 54's; added details in sig.

16-17... but not with my break problem, hopefully after my breaks are fixed, and a timed pump I will see a bit beter! Not bad though with what I have-It does drop when towing

My Dad has a 1990 std cab 350 with a 5 speed and 4. 10's. He gets 22-23 on the highway, but he dont drive over 65 ever! When he takes off from stop lights, bicycles pass him for the first 3 gears!! Well not really, but he drives it extremely easy.

Eric

Oh yea, it's totally stock.

I'm getting 20 MPG highway/empty @ 65-70 MPH

Around 21'ish if I keep it under 65.

Loaded with 8 1/2' slide in fully loaded for 2 weeks, 20 gals. xtra fuel, 20 gals. xtra water, 3-20's of propane plus all hunting gear, utility trailer around 1400lbs I get 19 1/2 - 20 MPG at 60 MPH.

Regards, Bob.

In the 2 years I commuted 80 miles round trip to work (w/gear vender installed), at 75-80 MPH, all Hiway. (I log everything) I always get better than 19 and usually 20 point something and every now and then a 21. 5. Right after I put in the Gear vender o/d I drove the back roads to Wyoming never over 60MPH and got 24MPG. Up hunting chains all four tires, in deep snow with alot of idleing 16-17 MPG.

I get 20-21 mpg when driving 60-65, 18-19 mpg when driving 70. I used to get worse miliage when using cruise control but since installing tighter torque converter miliage doesn,t vary as much with cruise on.

Mileage? You say?

I was averaging 18 mixed driving. 135k, 4. 10s, 33x16. 5s, 5sp, 4x4. Then the oil pump failed and I haven't checked the mileage with the new motor.

i religiously achieve 17. 8 - 17. 9 mpg on my @80 mile roundtrip commute everyday, all at @ 60 - 80 mph. in town i get 14. 3 mpg consistantly. . wish i had 3:07 gears maybe that would put me up to about 19 mpg... anyway i cant complain my old chubby (454) dually got the 8 mpg in town and 10 on the freewayat 60mph(4:56 gears), the very worst it ever got was 32 gallons in less than 100 miles, foot on the floor 40 mph, serious head wind, big hills and 10,000 lbs of trailer, trans temp never got below 200 with the factory cooler and a 12x16 stacked plate aftermarket cooler... ... 12k on engine , 8k on trick trans... ... awe$$um truck , for a ranch truck,... just can't afford to drive it... ... .

I WISH

MY truck gets 12-13. 5 religiously. 80% in town driving. I just put in PW injectors I hope it helps. The best I've gotten is 16 on the highway. 92 D350 auto 3. 54's
