While I voted for the 20+ MPG average, it really depends on the type of travel I do. I get about 24 on the open highway with my 3. 54, but once I get in town, it drops a bit. Around 19-20 MPG.

3rd choice 16-80 ?

Gawd, I wish I could get close to the high #;) :D

Imagine filling up once every 2,800 miles with my 35 gal tank!

But seriously folks, my 4:10 gets 16+ around town, 18+ on the road.

I voted 14 to 16, I could be happier but I only drive 20 or so miles a day. Heck it doesn't even get to operating temp until I'm half way to work. I did get 18 while driving it home (2,000 miles) so I know it'll be fine while on road trips, which is why I bought it.

My truck has the 6 spd with 4. 10's and I've found running under 2000 rpms I get 18-20 mpg. Over 2000 rpms (65-80 mph doesn't matter) I get a consistent 16 mpg.

I just got back from a 300 mile trip and i was getting close to 23MPG on the higway. I was not hauling anything though.

fuel mileage

I wish I could see 18 or so, hopefully it will get better when it's broken in, only 12,000 miles now. When I finish my bombing will it get better? The best I have had is 16. 2 on long trip to Vegas. Only drive 10 miles to work all highway and get 14. 8. . Dwayne:D

Milage

Mediccummin,

Throw a load (the bigger the better) on the back and take a 100 mile trip. that's the way to shorten the break-in period. These trucks want to work. You should see an improvement in your mpg, and maybe a little in the seat of the pants acceleration too.

:D

COMPLETELY AGREE W/SHOVELHEAD

Tow something! I have only 2400 on my one month old truck and started towing at 1200. Bingo! The truck is definitely happier towing. All the notchyness(is that a word?) of the six speed, and lathargicness(!?) of the engine goes away. The truck can finally show you what it can do. They NEED and WANT to work!

Of course, I'm only getting 10mpg but I'm 22. 5k down the road. That's 1k too heavy, for a Dodge. 10k too heavy for a Ferd. 22. 5k too heavy for a Cheezy. Ha!

Towing heavy in SoCal, Ian.

Well, I thought I was over the hump so to speak on fuel mileage. I had been averaging around 14. 5-15 but then started hitting 17 or 18. I even had one tank that got 20. But now the last 2 tanks I'm back at 14. 5. It's so discouraging to hear about all these trucks getting 20+ and I can't get near that. I had a Ford F-250 with the PSD and it was around 14-15 too. I wish someone could explain how trucks that are very similar can vary so widely in fuel mileage.

Just went to Muncie and back. Mpg's going out was 20. 78 and coming home was 21. 38. I think I could have come close to getting 23 mpg if I didn't have to drive for about 75 miles in 5 to 6 percent grades. I drove between 70-72 mph and each leg was approx. 570 miles.

So far mine is averaging 14. 6... . wife's truck is averaging 14. 2... . neither one is over 5k miles yet... so they should get better.

pulling my 13,900lb 5'er it only gets about 12mpg

attention all you high mileage guys... . please do not allow DC to flash your computer or i guarantee you will lose mucho MPG... ..... i went from 19. 9 empty at 75 mph to 16 or less after they updated my computer for more power... what a joke... ...

I can and do often get 23 MPG on the highway with cruise set at 55. About 21 set at 65, 19 when set at 75, 17 when set at 85. Overall I average about 18. 5 which is about 70% highway and 30% city driving. Also since I seldom tow very much it took about 35,000 miles for my truck to really break in and for milage to finally top out. Just my 2 cents ;)

I average 21/22 around Portland as long as I stay at 60. Out on the road with no load it will run up to around 24 if I keep my foot out of it. I just did a tow down to Provo and back with a total mileage of 1800 round trip. Going down I was pulling a full sized car hauler with another truck on it for a total weight of 9600. I got 17. 43. Comming back with the same car hauler and a toyota corolla and the truck bed loaded up with my daughters stuff, I was getting 18. 57. The toyota was lighter than the truck. I'm not sure what the weight was comming back. I had about 1000 in the bed. :D :D :D Going up over the Blue mountians outside of Pendelton I watch the ol computer drop down to 6 and 7. Over all round trip was right at 18mpg. The EZ box is always at set on level 3. I've been running Amsoil since 1500 miles. Got the truck on the 3rd of July 00 and as of today I have 32600 on it with no problems. This truck loves to pull and is a real joy to drive. ;) :D
