Installed a hot rod VP a few weeks back and I'm still weaning myself off of the giggle factor. This thing is so much fun now. I've only had a 4" exhaust and an intake prior to this but boy, what a difference. Now the question.

When I mash the accelerator boost jumps up to ~24psi, I'm assuming that this is due to the extra fuel being added and the motor spooling up the turbo faster than the wastegate can react. 24lbs isn't a lot for a stock motor I don't think, am I on track so far? So what's a good next step, as a daily driver, I'm thinking a new turbo, but which one?

You should get some type of boost fooler to take advantage of you increased fueling. Your ECM will defuel you motor at that boost level decreasing potential performance. You might consider a Smarty, Edge EZ, Juice, or Comp. Add one of these and not only will you HRVP add the power they will increase it as well.....

Then get a hybrid turbo like I did. .

A HX 35/40 with a 14 cm housing. . this will get you up to 40 psi and then you will be up to the all out laughter and yahoo!!
