Most of Centerline's 17" and bigger 8-lug wheels are available in offsets very close to stock

As some of you know finding wheels that don't stick out a mile is a PITA for Ram owners. It was pretty much 18" Weld wheels from KORE was about it, but those are gone. Some were aware Centerline had 1 wheel offering that filled the bill, but they were the only one (except for some spendy Budniks). Now, according to Centerlines website, they have several picks

Here is a brief rundown (Click "search by vehicle" on this page, select Ram HD 8lug) http://www.centerlinewheels.com/main_wheel.php:

17x8. 5" with 6. 0" backspace (only puts outside edge of tire 1/2" beyond stock)

20x8. 5" with 5. 625" backspace (puts tire out 7/8")

Now for the drawbacks (yeah, it's not a perfect world): These offsets are available only with the 8. 5" rim, and they're not hub-centric (last I checked), and it's either 17" or 20" rims. The wider rims only come with 4. 5" backspace meaning they'll stick out by several inches. But fortunately you can fit a decent size tire on a 8. 5" rim, 315s are no problem since guys put them on the stock 8. 0" wide rim OK.

Another thing I noticed, those who are into bling bling and want 20s, the 275/55/20 has become quite affordable, but unfortunately (yeah, it's not a perfect world) they are Range D (2833 lbs capacity in most cases).

Good news... Thanks for letting us know. One of my buddies over here is ready to buy now and I'll be in the market eventually myself. We both appreciate the "heads up"!

Which style wheels have the 6" back spacing? All I found on the link for the 8 lug was 4. 5" back spacing.

Never mind I didn't search by vehicle

How about something in a normal 16" size? Most aftermarket wheels are not hub centric. I wasn't exactly happy about that when I got my Weld wheels and went to mount them.

Just a heads up. I had Centerline HT II's on my 1994 GMC Sonoma as they were one of the few positive offset wheels I could find (they were VERY expensive). They got bent on that light truck (3500 lbs maybe) and I never hit a curb or major pothole, etc. I did take the truck to the dunes but never took any hard hits with them there either. I'd personally be wary about the durability of centerlines on our heavy trucks.

Interesting Steve, that's a bummer. That is one concern I've had, construction strength taking a back seat to style and weight savings. Did you try getting Centerline to replace them? How were they to deal with?

RDusch I believe the point they are trying to make by the "stock height" comment is these wheels will work on non-lifted trucks, and not stick out, even on a 4x2.

That is great that Centerline is manufacturing something without the low rider style offset. Weld has several wheels with near stock offset. The 18x9s Renegades on mine don't stick out much at all. Maybe mnaufactures are starting to fill the gap.

I just got my Eagle 114's on my new megacab with 35" Toyo M/T's - got just a tiny rub on the rear plastic liner on front wheel well. Easy fix by cutting the bottom inch of the plastic liner or just leave it like I did. They do not stick out - i will post pic's soon. The 114 I got was an 18x9. 5 with 6" backspacing.

Forgot to mention - total stock with 35's - no lift - Kore Chase on order though - been waiting 4 weeks now for it to get here!

I don't know, the site clearly states "Not designed for lifted trucks, stock hight only".

I am going to be a new dodge owner but I am kind of confused on the problems with the wheels on them. I understand that you want a positive off set but a majority are only 4. 5 am I right so the closer to the factory (which is ?) the better. The second thing and this is what I am confused on is the Hub Centric. So you are needing the lugs to center the rim or is the axle centering it. I was looking to put WELDS Sandstorm 18x8. 5 on.

vegas,

The stock Dodge wheels are both hub and lug centric. Hub-centric are centered on the raised center of the mounting surface and the wheel fits perfectly over that raised center part of the hub. Lug-centric are centered with conical lug nuts that lock the wheel into position on the hub. I don't have any experience with them, but a true hub-centric wheel will have lug nuts that are flat to hold the wheel on, while the hub holds it centered.

Because we have the conical lug nuts, we can use standard aftermarket wheels. All the weight of the truck is on the wheel studs though, but I haven't heard of a single problem with this since the 3rd gen's came out.

Our stock offset is something like + 26mm or so. Stock backspace is a little over 6".
