I'm going to need new tires soon, and hope to budget for some new aluminum wheels with them. I see the Alcoa wheels have specific center diameters for hubcentric fit on the Dodge Ram trucks. But I think I prefer the looks of Eagle alloys (pretend we don't notice they look like Ford wheels) , which don't mention this precise hubcentric fit for the center hole. Instead, the Eagle documentation seems to infer that the replacment lug nuts (with the tapered end) locate the wheels for concentric fit.

Is this issue a problem? Do I need to stay with the hubcentric fit for aftermarket wheels?

For the tire question, if I try to fit larger tires (say - 255/85), and assuming I use spacers to prevent sidewalls from rubbing, how does the typical spacer ensure the hubcentric wheel fit?

Any more suggestions or tips are appreciated.

Thanks,

John

I thought y-knot would offer a comment about this, since he's got the Alcoa wheels and tire size I want. But I haven't seen him post in quite a while.

Did anyone else consider these issues if you installed aftermarket wheels?

Thanks,

John

There's a huge discussion on this topic. If you search wheels/tires ( the title of the post is wheels/tires ) you can find it. There's a lot of valuable information. I purchased an aftermarket set of wheels before I read the posts on this website. I feel like I wasted my money now. I'm not happy with the fact they are not hubcentric and they have a 0 offset which makes them stick out of the wheel wells. Some folks make some very valid points regarding hubcentricity on that specific thread so I won't go into much detail. You are doing the right thing by asking questions before you spend your $$$

Ereynolds72,

Thanks for the alert on the previous discussion. I confess I haven't used a search for this yet. I'm a new subscriber, so I'm used to reading only, without access to the search feature.

Regards,

John
