Can the Front wheel bearing be rebuilt on the 4x4 or do you have to buy the complete hub? My pass side went bad at 280k but the drive side is still ok, however I would re-build it if possible, i have heard that you can. My pass bearing non anti loc cost $200 is that about the correct price.

Re Wheel Bearings

I just had the same problem ('98. 5 4x4 2500) with my drivers side wheel bearing. I bought a replacement hub assembly at NAPA for $175. They started at $325 and I got them down to $175. They told me the bearing by itself was not available in their system and didn't think you could get it at Dodge either.

By the way. Changing it out was a real bear. :{

I did my ball joints and wheel bearings this past weekend. there not too bad but i've done them a time or two between my truck and dads trucks. the real trick i learned this time is to use an air hammer when you take the bearing out. loosen the four bolts that hold it in and then walk the bearing out with the air hammer. and then you don't wreck the bearing if you don't need to replace it you can reuse it. Thanks to Josh Peters for the tip's and tricks.
