Ran into a problem while repairing my u-joints left front wheel bearing has 1/8 in. play in and out. . i really don't want to buy the 200+ hub/wheel bearing assembly, so i seperated it from the rotors and tried calling a local bearing supply house with the part number and all they can tell me is that i have to buy the whole assembly at the dealer or napa... searched the threads as best as I can and only found one part number that i tried and failed again. . should i just have it pressed out and take it to the bearings house and see if they can come up with something?any part numbers for the wheel bearing would be appreciated. .

You can try...

Others have but the bearing is produced for Dodge under license. I'm not sure how long the right to practice or patent is in effect for this part but a few years ago it was a dealer only part and cost close to $500.

Dynatrac in CA has a kit that converts the front axle to locking hubs. The system is expensive ($1500) or so I believe. It completely replaces the cartridge bearing and also eliminates the vacuum disconnect on the right axle tube. Lots of money but the bearings can be repacked instead of a throw away like the stock parts.

The bearings are not adjustable and need to be a specially matched set, I think this is why they don't sell them separately.
