Wheel powder coating

I'd like to get my wheels powder coated or painted or whatever it takes!!!



I want a darker wheel to match my Graphite Paint. I like the dark wheel look, but don't need new wheels. Black would be too dark.



What is this process called? and does anybody have a recomendation for somebody in Orange County, CA?

those black wheels are going to look slick, just don't get any weights on the outer lip. . ugly silver chunk won't look good on the black wheels

it is powder coating, there are tons of colors. Just had mine done in mirror black. They look good, imho. I dont quite have them on the truck yet though.

as for a shop in your area, sorry can't help. mine were $140 sandblasted and coated.

I also live in Orange County, California (there's an Orange County in Florida too) and Les Schwab is not here, unless they go by a different name.



As for powdercoaters in OC, I've been very happy with Olympic in Santa Ana. If/when you find a price, could you please post it or PM me? Thank you. I've been thinking about doing the same thing.

I called Olympic - I should have remembered them, they used to do all the powder coating when I worked at GT Bicycles.



anyway . . . they charge $75 a wheel and it will take about a week. The center caps can't be done. He said you can find a body shopt that MAY be albe to match.

That's funny that you mentioned GT. A couple friends who used to work at GT originally referred me to Olympic. Olimpic did a Chevy truck frame and all the suspension for me a while back when I was doing a frame-off rebuild.



Not intending to change the subject, but what did you do at GT?

The problem with painting the caps is the little slot you use to remove them. You'd chip the paint there, and it may start flaking off from there.

Those companies weren't owned by GT.



The woman who started Free Agent lived not too far away from me, and so I ended up with serial number 13 - bad luck? Not really.



I always forget about Auburn, since that was a relatively new company and acquisition (compared to the others).

I Just did my stock aluminum rims hear in San Diego. Every place I called, about 10 of them, qouted me between $60 and $75 a rim. I had a friend take my rims to his buddies shop in Chula Vista. They charged me $130 total. I don't really know if it is a shotty job as I've never had rims powder coated before. They lood pretty good to me (flat black). Sorry no pics yet.

There are three styles of 'stock' wheels: 7. 5" steel, 8" with chrome wheel skins and 8" alloy. Are the chrome wheel skins, on the steel wheels, removable?
