I'm wanting to upgrade to a taller tire. I've got a stock 2002 2500 SLT 4x4 CTD

quadcab shortbed with the original tires and wheels. The questions I have are:

1)What is the tallest tire I can put on this truck with the stock wheels?

2)Are the wheels 7 or 8" wide?

I'll be needing tires in the near future and was thinking of trying to knock some RPMs off on the highway(4. 10 gears).

P/N 52106367AA WHEEL, Aluminum, WDZ, 16x8, Forged Aluminum was packaged with SLT Ram 2500's model year 2002.

315's will rub with no lift, had them. 295's are probably about the limit without wheel spacers or different wheels. And you need 2. 5"-3" of lift to keep 315's(35") to keep from rubbing the back of your fenderwell. The 3rd gen guys can get away with it, bit their fenders/wheels are slightly different than us 2nd gen guys. And also, with 4. 10s, I would be looking for bigger tires too...

I have read someone took a little propane torch and heated the plastic fenderliner heated it and pushed it back enough to make them work. may not work on all trucks though. just a thought...

I actually thought about that! Your the first to mention it, thought I had an original idea... . Just haven't got around to trying it. Shouldn't take much heat, just enough to push it in with a gloved hand, then quench it real quick with water to set it.

Thanks for all the response. I was hoping to do 315s but may give 295s a try.

You guys mentioned something about melting the inner fender well? Has anyone tried this? Sounds like it might be worth trying if I try to go with a 315.

On another note, can the dealer flash the ECM/ABS for 295s or 315s? I do have a smarty but would like to try to keep it as part of the truck(so the smarty doesn't have to be "active" if I take it to the dealer for work).
