I just get the Wheel Stud Recall for my 2012 3500 - I thought the recall was for newer models?
Try setting up an account here if you haven't already.I haven't heard about a Mopar account or app.
I guess I need to take it to a different dealership. One that actually knows what they are doing.
When I took mine in for the recall they never put the new page in the book. I asked them and they never got back to me . What is the new torque figure?
I'm a rebel, I run 130#'![]()
When I bought my 2012 then the 13 I quickly discovered that the wheel studs were metric and smaller in diameter than the earlier trucks. Dodge/ Ram never changed the manual to a lower torque spec for the smaller studs. I found out very quickly that if I went to the 145 ft/lbs the manual said the studs would stretch and break. So I lowered the spec to 120ft/lbs and never had an issue. Now this recall comes out…. 11 years late.
It was probably originally specified in Newton meters. It just so happens that 175 N⋅m = 129.073 foot-pounds.
I meant the torque for the "replacement" studs was "originally specified..." But since very few of us in the US speak N⋅m, the specification was translated to work with my vintage torque wrench. That's how you get to 129 rather than a nice round number like 130.It was originally 140 lb/ft, which was the correct torque for the flanged studs on the older SAE studs. It’s just too much for the metric studs.
