Superglide Pullrite 16K hitch?

Help in understanding the Tow Ratings

I want to upgrade my fifth wheel to 16" wheels so I can increase tire weight capacity.

Will any of the original equipment alloy truck wheels fit my 6 lug trailer axles? If not, what is a good source of relatively inexpensive wheels?

Dan

No experence here really, but I think most 6 lugs are the same, trailer or truck. Could you take a wheel off and take it to a junk yard and get a set off a truck? I think backspacing would be the only thing to really pay attention too, I also assume you will need 4?

Sounds like you have a Raptor ! I've been thing the same thing, there should be enough clearence between wheels, Let us know how it goes. RikaRio

No, my RV is a Challenger by Damon. It's about 8 years old.

On a previous trailer w/ 15" 6 lug wheels, I got a chevy truck wheel to use for a spare. I carried it for months until I decided to try it on and found that the lugs lined up but the center hole was too small. Since it was just a spare, a smoke wrench made it fit. I was 2000 miles from home at the time.

I was hoping someone on here would have had some experience that would save me some money and headaches.

Do you have an "America's Tire Store" in Manteca or the area? Their plain vanilla white spoke wheels will be decent and about as cheap as you can get new. Also try dexteraxle.com for wheels made especially for trailers. I can recommend their heavy duty spring shackle upgrade, which will stop the spring squeaks.

Thanks, I may do that. I also found a dealer in Arkansas who sells new wheels with tires for less than $100 each. Since I will be close to there in early May for a grandson's graduation from college, I might check him out.

Thanks again

I have my doubts that a 6 lug wheel from a truck would have the weight capacity for a heavy trailer as they are only found on 1/2 ton trucks. Also, by my limited undertanding of wheels, trailers use lug-centric wheels (meaning that the lugs keep the wheel centered) and trucks use hub-centric wheels (meaning that the hubs keep the wheel centered and the lugs just keep it attached).

I just purchased new Carlile 225-75-15 Load range "E". What adifferent they made pulling my TT (8500lbs) down the road. Some other manf are making E rated tires in 15" so you dont have to get new rims. Worked for me!!

My experience w/ Carlysle tires was so dismal, 5 out of 5 separated or blew out completely, that I swore I'd never have another on a bet.
