Has anybody had any experiance with Centerline wheels or MickeyThompson tires on a 2500 4x4? The ones i am wondering about are the new 16x8 rattler and the 285x75x16 MTX radial. What would the dimensions on the tires be in english?

If you take the 285/75/16 you can work it out by doing 285 is the width in mill. meters your side wall hight is 75 percent of your tread with. 285 divied by 75 then times that by two and add the rim diameter 16 in. there are 25. 4 mm in an inch. My caculator is out in the shop so I'll do the math later.

285/75 x 16 is about equal to a 33x11. 25x16. My good friend ran 285/75x16 BFG AT on 16x8 progressive wheels and liked them. He just changed to 16. 5x9. 75 Centerline type 33 polished withe BFG 33x12. 5x16. 5. The new tires look a lot better than the older ones, they look a little taller and wider. He said the new ones occasionally rub. Good luck with your decision.

How do you guys with the 35's and 3. 54 gears get along? I have 33in. BFG's and I really want 35's but I do a lot of towing and I would lose the use of 5th gear I believe. Now, I know the truck would be fine empty, but what about loaded? Can you still take off in 2nd gear?

That is why I run 265/75/16 street tires. Also don't want to waste a $700 set of tires that I use for the mud races.

Hey Rattler!

My only concern or advice would be to make sure that the MT MTX's are at least a "D" load rated tire. I believe the MTX is only offered in a "C" rated (6 ply) tire & not a "D". I had considered this tire before purchasing Goodyear Wrangler MT's but couldn't find them in a "D" rating.

For some concerns that I'm currently having with "D" rated tires & my Goodyear's check out the "Goodyear 305/70 16's" on this forum.

Just another thought: If I were looking for a quiet running AT tread design tire I might consider the 'Pro Comp' radial all terrain tire with a 50,000 mile warranty. It only comes in a 305/70R/16 "D" rated currently through '4 wheel parts Wholesalers (1-800-421-1050) or 'National Tire & Wheel' (1-800-847-3287). Clearance might be an issue? I don't have any experience w/ Pro Comp tires or how they back their warranty but for a 50,000 mile AT tire I might be willing to give them a try (Next time).

Just my current experiences - don't know if it helps!

I have 35" tires on my 99 auto with 3. 55 gears. They do rub alittle when I turn. I like OD because at 70 mph I'm running 1700 rpm. If you are going to pull heavy loads just lock out OD. On the negitive side I wish the the OD was . 75 instead of . 69 . 1:1 to . 69 is a big jump.

The friend with the 285's on his 1500 4x told me his 98 rubbed but the 2k does not. Something about the turn radius being changed in the 2K.

ANYONE HAVE the 354's with 285's in a 5 speed? Curious about performance.

I do, David. Wouldn't have it any other way. The overall effect is to move the torgue further up into the mph which is exactly what I wanted. Always felt the truck was geared just a little too low... even with 3. 54's.
Now, instead of giving it no throttle to start in 2nd gear I give it a little. First remains a true granny gear and I have never had a problem pulling or towing with the taller tires. They will also improve your mileage and help with freeway driving. Last time I checked my around town mileage it was 20. 1 mpg. Being a std. cab and 2 X 4 doesn't hurt.
OOPS! Just realized we're talking different tire sizes. Feel free to ignore my response.
