My Tires

My truck has the factory 16X7. 5 steel wheels, with the plastic ( chrome) trim rings. I want to do a wheel upgrade without spending a fortune. That means less than $200 per wheel. I've used American Racing in the past on half tons but most of their wheels seem to be cast aluminum. I'm looking for forged aluminum in 16X8. My tire upgrade, when the factory Michelins wear out, will be to 265X16's. I checked the Weld catalog and didn't see any 16X8's for the Dodge 2500, besides their cheapest forged wheel was $235+ unless I misread the print. My truck is 2wd so offroad use is not a consideration. Does anyone have any suggestions. I checked the Dodge dealer and DC wants $300-$400 per wheel for the forged SLT wheels.

Stay away from cast,as they are probably not strong enough under the weight of the cummins. I have the forged Alcoa's,and they were quite cheap. Nice finish, easy to keep clean, and great customer service. I believe the MT line of forged rims are also made by Alcoa. Make sure any wheel you get has a good load rating for the weight of your truck.

16x8 M/T Alcoa Challengers are $169 ea. Can't be beat for the price.

Weld is way to proud of their rims! Had a friend who's Weld 2 piece started to sound like a bowl of Rice Crispies after a couple of weeks under the mighty Cummins. Second set did the same thing.

I bought a set of used Alcoa Classics. Luv em. Would buy em again in a heart beat. Its comforting driving on a wheel carrying that kind of weight rating.

Only thing I "sorta" dislike is that you should polish em when you rotate tires. Clearcoating would eliminate this, but then again..... clearcoated wheels don't maintain a nice finish forever either. The finish can get downright ugly.

Without it, a little polish should keep em good as new for just about ever.

Mickey Thompson Classic II are a great wheel that is forged for 122-139 ea from my shopping around. they have a high weight rating something like 3800lbs for the 16. 5x9. 75 that I have.

there are presently 2 sets of the stock 2000 up wheels on ebay  . ray's is one and there is another set that the auction ends tomorrow , the reserve on the set that ends tomorrow is 450. 00 .

no they raen't mine , i need one myself .

I have to second WOWZYs comment. 4 Wheel Parts and Eagle Alloys. I bought a whole package, best deal I could find. Purchase price, mount, ballance, center caps, lugs, valves and shipping was all included. I couldn't pass on the offer.

Lets see if I can add the picture:
