Hi folks - time for new tires. I have a 98. 5 2500 with the stock wheels/tires. I want to go to a 285/75/16 I think, but I guess the stock wheels are too narrow - 6. 5". Any suggestions on what's a good wheel? Better yet, anyone with a 99-01 BOMBed their tires/wheels yet and have a stock set of cast rims hanging around you'd be interested in unloading or swapping? Thanks for the suggestions and if you've got wheels, email me, please.

Hi Joel; Hey, I have seen quite a few Rams around my town with 285/75/16's on the Stock rims. They look good!

Hey Joel,

I went with American Racing Baja's, 16X8, with 285/75/16 tires. Looks great. However, I'm wanting to trade back to stock wheels, with the Michelin 265/75/16, load range E tires. I've heard good things about these tires.

Thanks, Bob, already looked there.

Randy - think it would be feasible to talk about a swap... ? Texas and WA... there's some logistics to be worked out there... .

I have been running 285/75/16 BFG AT's on my truck in the summer and 255/85/16 studded snow tires in the winter. I was just told that the OEM rims are too narrow for the 285's. This makes sense-it pulls the tire to seat on the narrow rim. In order to get good and even tread wear, I have to air my tires down to 40lbs. unless I have a lot of weight in the truck. If you go with the 285/75/16, which look great, try and go with an 8 inch wide wheel.

For 285/75/16 tires I would suggest a 16x8 wheel. Mickey Thompson/Alcoa and Weld Racing make the BEST wheels money can buy for our Rams. I purchased the M/T Alcoa wheels however, I could be just as satisfied with the Weld's. #ad

Joel, don't waste too much time going for the factory aluminum wheels off '00 & '01 trucks 'cause they WON'T FIT #ad
They do not clear the brake drums on the back. HVAC found out the hard way when running without a spare and having a flat on the rear--he tried borrowing MCrossley's but had to call a tow truck instead #ad

Thanks Vaugh - important safety tip! I guess it's 265s for me this time around. Getting married here shortly, so the extra 6 bills for wheels is unlikely right now. Now I wonder if I can convince my dealer to adjust my speedo... .
