Has anyone put 2001-2002 2500 Alloys on a 1999 2500? I'm looking for a set of Alloys & a fella has a set off a 2001 that I'm hoping will fit my 1999 2500... . Will they work? The reason I ask is I have 4 wheel drum brakes & in 2000 & newer I believe they went to 4 wheel disc.

Clay,

First I recommend a search on your subject. Second, if I remember right, the new DC alloy wheels will not fit rear drums without some work first. One member here wrote that the drums interfere with the new style wheels. This member ground the outer surface (don't remember where) to make room for the alloys. If you can try the wheels on before buying, do it. I do not approve or disapprove of the modifications. That is your truck, your problems, your life. Do what you want. Try the search and see if that answers your question better than what I have written.

Clay,

I have 2001 alloys on my 1997. I had to remove some material from the outer edge of the rear drums. Took the two drums and a wheel to a machine shop. One hour labor and they were good to go. He was able to turn them on his brake lathe. I spoke with Sam Peterson and the machine shop prior to having the work done. The material removed is not structural. Some folks have mentioned clearance problems on the front end. I did not have any problems there. I went with the 2001 alloys because of the back spacing (6. 5 inches). They were the only 8 inch wide rims I could find that did not stick out the side of the truck. PM if you would like some more info.
