What happens you may ask when a set of injectors goes bad?

Well check out these pics and you will get just a taste of my pain.

What the injector did to my #5 piston you may want to know?

Piston Pic

Not done with it all yet. Monday I will tear down the engine and replace the # 5 piston with a new Cummins unit and put new rings on them all. These pics are just to show some of you fellas what can happen when you buy substandard performance parts.

Yep ADP 200hp EDM's.

The guy in the pick posing by the picker is my brother-in-law. Diesel mechanic for 25 years now.

The other fine look'n fella is yours truely.

I hope to have it back together by the next weekend if all goes well.

BPostel, I'm not a moderator on TDR, but this sort of conversation should be done via PM.

DarrellB, maybe you could give the vendor a chance to make it right before making a splash on all the boards.

Trust me, ADP has had more than ample oppurtunity to make it right. ;)

if the vender gives a crap, he'll post. if hes gonna offer to help make things right, might as well do it publicly. everyone makes mistakes. its the ones that man up and make em right that get respect. im sure theres alot of people watching this thread.

thanks for posting this. i like to see the part customer service plays so i can make a decision on where to take my hard earned cash.

venders products make sales, not cheerleaders. no need to kick the man while hes down. unless your ready to take it like a man when your day comes.

good luck on your engine build and i hope you a the vender can work things out so both of you come out ok.

Sorry Dude, Thanks for the Advice

DarrellB / Farmall, sorry to hear about the truck. I think its one of the best looking trucks I have ever seen. Hope everything works out as well as it can. I will use your advice in the future, and look for parts with warranties, and the like.

That's why I posted. No need for another person to spend their hard earned money and get nothing but a torn up engine like I did.

It's nice to know you have good friends and you sure do find out who they are in times like these. Thank you all!

BTW; Bpostel, My friends call me DB. You can call me Darrell or Mr. Blank. The rest of ya it's DB always. ;)

If the man knows who puts food on the table then he ought to consider.

I have made posts for products that have done good and I’ll make no bones about where they came from. :)

Same applies to if I’m unhappy ;)

"I operate my own business and let me let you in on a little secret. If you do not do good/honest/fair work, then you will have a hard time putting food on the table for your family. Because word will get around and you will soon not have anymore work. Customer service is everything, it can make a bad experience turn out to be a positive one. '

well said! i to run a small business(flooring contractor). no ones perfect. we all know this. ive made my share of mistakes too. when a customer call with a concern i dont tell the there SOL! i get my guys set up, get in my truck, and go address the issue. customer service in my line of work(mostly because of the shops) is a rare thing once there paid. basicly, i look even better than before because i was will to make it right without the "ill get back to you when im bored" crap. if anyone is offering a product or service, theyd better have the spine to back it! ive been doing this for less than 6 years and have already replaced quite a few "old timers" because of my willingness to man up to an issue.

honestly, i hope the vender chimes in with at least the willingness to refund the guy. i dont want to talk trash about anyone but unless theres action, it due! faulty injectors, take em back, recieve money back, part ways. DB rebuilds his engine, JR might take a beating as far as his injectors go but at least he keeps the respect of other people. cant put a price on respect dude.

I am almost there! ;)

Gotta put the radiator, intercooler, condensor, bumper, and hood back on and I will be ready to fire it up. Got some more pics I'll get up soon for everyones viewing pleasure. I got lucky though. That piston came really close to scoring a cylinder wall. #@$%!

Now I gotta break the truck in all over again. Oo.

DB & farmall, You gents seem like good folks. Sorry to hear about the problem w/DB's engine. He's lucky to have a good friend(s) to help out, and a place other than a driveway to work in. My hats off to the both of you for maintaining composure with some of the other folks posting negatively and I must say, as I'm sure you know, "what goes around, comes around". So, basically mean people . . . well ya know . . what kids do with lollypops. ;)

Thanks for sharing your plight and your recommendation to buy quality parts. It's alway been my belief and experience that you get what you pay for. If you want something to last then plan to pay for it, or be prepared to pay tenfold when it fails.

Do send some pictures when all done. Should be interesting to hear how well it runs with some fresh rings and such. :D

Best regards.
