I'm in the middle of a 'personalization' project on my 2016 CTD with an A/T.

I'm adding a relay that I want to activate when I've shifted to reverse, and I would like to be able to get that signal from under the dash rather than picking it up at the rear of the truck from the back-up lights and feeding it all the way back into the cab.

I would like to locate a wire (location and color code) in the cab which will be 'hot' when shifted into reverse).

Can anyone help to locate and identify a wire somewhere under the dash that I can use?

There may not be one. I believe all communication about trans shift lever position is via CAN bus signals, not a dedicated wire. I suspect that even the rear lighting module is operated via CAN messages, so there may not even be a "reverse lights" wire per se.

Only thing you might be able to do is to use the trailer wiring harness. There is a leg for the back up lights on a trailer or large slide in camper. We that leg use it to turn off the breaks on trailers with surge break systems that have disk breaks on the trailer. If you don't turn off the breaks you can't back the trailer up.

How about the fuse for the trailer backup lights in the PDC? F-27 Pin 87 should have power only when the back-up lights are energized via the BCM.
