When Does The Low Fuel Warning Come On

Just wondering when does the low fuel light, warning come on. On my other 3 (01,02 & 04) it would come on around 1/8 tank left.

I noticed on mine this summer that it seems to vary. When driving around empty it comes on at about the 1/8 tank mark, but several times this summer while heavy towing it would come on when the needle was just on the underside of the 1/4 mark. I didn’t pay attention to the DTE number though but that would make sense as while towing if it was the 50 mile amount while heavy towing.

Yes I have notice around 35 miles I really don't like to have so low for cooling of tank fuel pump.

Just as the engine starts to sputter. Don’t run your tank so low. The in tank fuel pump is cooled by fuel. Keep it submerged an it’ll live a long happy life. Yes they put the pump in a well that the warm fuel returning from the engine fills. Helps with fuel gelling in winter. But can cause the pump to run hot if fuel level is low.

50-60 for my truck. I have usually try to not go below a 1/4 tank but in the rare cases its come on about then.

I really don't like to have so low for cooling of tank fuel pump.

One unintended perk of the Titan Tank is that there is around 7 gallons of fuel left when the low fuel light comes on when highway driving... plenty of fuel for cooling, but also plenty that I know I can make it quite a bit further if needed.

Then what you are saying I'm thinking mine isn't working. As for the picture that I uploaded no low fuel light. As for the DEF tank I normally top it off with it when gets to the half tank mark. It takes the 2 1/2 gallons that way.

Oh, okay sorry all, acronym's acronym's spent 40 years in the Air Force with them. I'm still stuck in the 2nd gen world. DTE (destination to empty.) I will check next time if I get that low again.

I'll bet you find you had more than 50 miles Distance To Empty so that's why the light wasn't on.
