I have a 2002 ram 2500 high output with a six speed in it, it has a Valaire dual disk clutch 150 HP injectors 260,000 miles and it’s having an intermittent problem where when you release the clutch coming from a stop in second gear every once in a while it will act up and want to die right as soon as it starts rolling. I’ve checked and adjusted the parking break. Could it be a failing vp that quits pumping when it gets loaded or could something be wrong with the clutch? Does the ECM bump up rpm when the clutch is released. I’m not sure if this is an electrical problem or a mechanical problem. I need help!

How long and how many miles on the dual disc clutch and 150 HP injectors? How long (and miles) has the intermittent problem been occurring?

There was a software update (20 years ago) that addressed throttling by the ECM during clutch engagement to help get a load moving.

When the problem occurs, does it feel like there is no power available, or does it feel like the clutch is engaging too quickly and bogging down the engine?

there are about 15000 on the dual disk, injectors and head studs. Also has and hx super 9 60mm turbo. I’m running a tune off of an edge juice with attitude. It feels like no power is available. Like you just turn the ignition off.[/QUOTE]

If you haven't done so already, I would check for engine codes.

You could try a complete disconnect of the Edge tuner to see if the problem goes away.

Does the engine perform normally in every other aspect?

Sounds more like a problem with the TPS/APPS to me.

Mine reacted the same when the TPS went south, rolling into throttle it fell back to idle speed. Another push in the throttle bought it back alive most of the time.

If you want to replace that get the Timbo from Genos.

It runs like a top 90 percent of the time. Other than when it doesn’t…..

I’m going to try to replace that, the only problem is that the issue is so intermittent I’m just going to have to replace it and hope for the best. Hopefully it never comes back

If you still run the factory one it is very likely that it has reached the end of its lifetime. Most didn't last as long. My first one went south at 150k. replaced with a cheap one that last short, then a Wells that gave me around 100k and now on my fourth one this time the Timbo and it works.

I put Timbo's in mine with RV injectors at 120K and now at 250k still fine and the 200 mi trip this week was a pleasure and got 20 mpg but no wind and 70+ mph all the way, this is my daily driver and my 2017 is the workhorse pulling the 33 ft covered snowmobile trailer about 200 miles a week all winter to the Snowy Range Mountains from Dec to May every year.
