When the dog stands his ground for a ATV ride...

Dog had to be left behind during the last two trips on the Can Am, but Saturday he made damn sure it would not happen again...

I look out the back door while loading up and this is what I see....

He would not get off of the ramp until we headed for the truck...then destination back seat....game on...

Riding on that Can Am is his most favorite thing in the world, loves it even more than his Squawking Rubber Chicken Toy.....

Dog has "Doggles" to keep the grit out as he rides with his head sticking out through the roll cage behind me...

Now the whole point of this ride was to have lunch at "Jack's Snack Shack"....way out in the boonies at the head of Nicatous Lake..

Takes about 2 hours to get there from downtown Lincoln....

They stay very busy and the food is first rate. No electricity, but they do run a genset at times. Freezers and such are propane.

They get business from the camp owners and 4 wheeler crowd in the summer, hunters in the fall and snowmobilers in the winter. Have a heated building if it's cold or you can sit outside in nice weather.

I got a "Jack's Burger" and a piece of Peanut Butter Pie, wife got a Taco Salad...well worth the trip. If any of you make it to Northern Maine in the summer you should check it out. You can drive to it with a car, we just prefer to wheel out to it.

I saw your FB post with food photos. Looked pretty darn good! Sometimes a big meal makes for a long ride home.

Very clean and well kept, better than some fancy places I have been in that regard. Help is friendly and on the dead run when it's busy..

We used to ride through Northeast Carry, ME, and there was an off the grid fuel and food stop. Same deal, depended on hunters/fishermen/snowmobilers. Food was not of the caliber of what you posted, though. Nice retired couple ran it. Had a big chart on the wall keeping a daily tally of moose and deer that wandered through. Also had a spotting scope pointed at the gas pump, and when I asked them why they said groups of mass***es would come through on sleds, and skip out on the gas bill. I could not believe it.

I did not get a picture of the fish n' chips that our friends ordered, it looked like half a whale laying in the plate.

SIL had Haddock Nuggets, again there was enough for two people.

I got what was shown above, so pie, burger, taco salad, mozzarella sticks and a Tee Shirt for $40.00.........and it's a great shirt!!!

That stuff does happen but not that often..most visitors are pretty good...

These guys take your order, let you finish eating and then you walk over to pay up.

They do not take credit or debit cards...I asked what they did when "I don't have any cash, only plastic!!" inevitably happened, she said we have them mail us a check....I love the old basic untainted State Of Maine....

I won't pollute your thread any further, but on my first sled trip to Jackman I ended up having to buy a new sled with a few hundred down, and a promise that my wife would send a check for the balance. Unbelievable in today's world.

Trying to explain it better, maybe I should say if we offer or if you ask nicely it's probably going to be all good.

If you DEMAND it, well you have just shot yourself down for all eternity and avoidance at all costs of you and yours will be passed down from father to son...

That's pretty much how it works in a basic sense....

Before I forget the dog's name is "Gilligan".........we bought him and got him out of a bad situation..

Had been pretty much kenneled for the first three years of his life, and when he was let out the family's Pit Bull would fight with and chew on him. When we got him he had punctures in his ears and some other battle scars....took him immediately to our vet as the dog had never been to one and we wanted him to get all his shots done, neutered, etc...

Vet looked him over and then told the wife.."Well I do want to point out that the scars are on on his face, not his a** so he was sticking up for himself!!"

After two years with him I can say with confidence that he has turned into the best dog that we have ever had. Glad we did it....
