with my smart box on it shift's into overdrive @ 50 which let's the engin rev. but keep's the egt low and wow! dose it go !but with the box off it shift's @ 42 which is great for lite acceleration but lug's the engin!
While towing an 11,000 lb fifth wheel, I turn off the OD in hills or mountains, with headwinds, below 1800 rpm in OD, or when boost is above 18-20 psi.
I turn mine off (when towing) when driving in town or in situations where I can't drive above 60 or 65 mph. I also turn it off when descending a grade while towing, it will give you some additional engine braking all the way down to about 12 mph with OD off. bg
