Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) When you check your codes (with the key)...

When I check my codes with the key, it always shows

1)P PCU

2)P done

3)P ECU

4)P done

5)then back to mileage



On my buddy's 01 his shows

1)P done

2)back to mileage

(and thats all his shows)



What gives?

Mine is a 2001. 5 and like your's; I mean the the 5 step process. Maybe someone with a 2001 or 2000 will chime in here and educate us all

I think the newer models show codes stored in both the Cummins ECM and the Dodge ECM. Older models just show the Dodge ECM codes.

Ok, I'll bite -

What is the procedure for checking the codes?

Turn the key to the on position three times fairly quickly, and leave it on the third time.



Key on - Key off - Key on - Key off - Key on



The codes will flash in the odometer window.



I usually just see P done. But I have seen the P PCU and P ECU messages when I had codes set in both.
