does anyone have info on replacement seats/ consoles, for the 1st generation trucks? or are they interchangable with other dodge trucks?? where are the best deals??? my seats lever ,to lay it back is broke, and the same position is getting old. any help would be great... thanks, monte

There are guys, myself included, who have installed 2nd Gen seats in a 1st gen. It requires some fabrication, but it is doable. There are also some aftermarket seats on ebay that look ok to me. Factory is close enough to run up there and check them out.

What about a Non-Bench Arrangement?

I've got the same grief... Best part of the truck is everywhere but inside the cab (feel like I'm in confessional every time I drive it). Has anyone done a seat-swap in a first gen where they could still be a big guy (6-2, 225 lbs) and sit in there w/out having to stop at the chiropractor after 200 miles?

I remember a thread where somebody put an air ride seat out of a big truck in his Dodge. He was a big guy too. Do a search, good luck.

LHagen- I had a 40-20-40 split bench from a 95ish truck in my 91. The only drawback in a reg cab was that the middle console was too upright for my girlfriend's liking on a long trip (we all know it is mandatory that the g/f sit in the middle seat ;)). It allowed her to scoot the seat up when she drove (she's 5'4"), while I could stay back and stretch my legs somewhat.

Monte,

You don't say where you are. I still have the originals from my swap for 2nd Gens. The bases aren't on them, as I used them for the new one. The recline and slide levers worked fine.

You can have them if we could figure out how to transfer them. I might meet you somewhere if it's not too far.

While we are on the topic of seat swaps... what were the factory options for seats in 1st gens? The bench seat in mine MUST go... and preferably before the 3000 miles roundtrip to CO and back. My gf's back (and subsequently, my gf) will be very angry with that damn bouncy stock bench.

I may just break down and fab up mounts for something else, but if I could just swap in stock buckets, that would be nice.

Mikey- Hate to break it to ya, but the ride is just as bouncy and rough no matter which seats you have. Though I guess if you have sturdier seat cushioning, it may help in some of the rougher bumps over the worn out stocker.

texas. . work between houston and san antonio, and have cattle in denton(north tx). . so i drive 5 hrs when i can... . wonder how much to ship the stuff??? i have a close friend in virginia, working on his masters degree at virg. tech i believe, i will see when he's comming hom next... . thanks, m. w. w.

Monte,

I am practically next door to VaTech. If he can take them, let me know and I will get them over there. Just to make it clear, the seat bases are not with the seats. I put my new ones on them. The recline works on them, but the arms are not with the seats. The previous owner took them off for some reason.

But if you want them, they are yours to do with as you wish. You or he can email me for further instructions tugboatphil AT yahoo.com

I can understand a truck being rough and maybe a little bouncy, but this bench seat is like a trampoline!
