My friend wants to put in a manual in his automatic 250 for a reason I don´t know... I have searced the net but all I could find was manuals for gas trucks, not diesel. Do anyone know where to find a new/used/rebuild trans for his truck???

I could go on about the reasons a stick is superior......

Unless he's REALLY attached to the pickup (like, he got it for free), he'd be better off to trade it off or sell it. But, he should be able to get a flywheel, adaptor, clutch, transmission, etc from one of the TDR vendors. I looked into it about 4 years ago for the one Mom now has, and it would have been about $2500 for the conversion, not to mention the little parts needed- pedals, clutch master cylinder, clave, etc, etc.

He can reuse the NP205 T-case.

He'll need to get the driveshadt lengthened and rebalanced.

Different transmission supports, maybe.

Manual transmission

Watch the classified here and you can find a transmission. Better, place a want add. There are folks who list them from time to time. Generally they are in need of rebuild. The 4x4 is pretty hard on the Getrag. You might want to consider the NV4500 if that is the application.

I see that you (or your friend) intend to change from an automatic. If that is the case your best bet would be to buy a parts truck and use all the clutch parts and 'stuff'. You will have enough to sell left over to offset the cost of the change.

There was a truck (two wheel drive) in Texas that was listed a while back that had been whacked in the side. It had a 4500 and was not overpriced. I just could never break away and go get it. No doubt it is gone by now but they ARE out there.

Good luck

As of yesterday there was a 4x4 getrag in the TDR classifieds. Sounded like a good deal, but I got no cash or I would get it.

I'm in the process of replaceing a Getrag in a 92 with a NV-4500. The Gratrag crapped out for the second time so I gave up. The rear main just isn't heavy enough for towing in overdrive. I'd suggest the NV trans in you're spending the money anyhow.

I'm the guy that posted one in the classifieds yesterday... already received a few emails expressing interest, but nobody saying "I'll take it" yet.

If your friend is *really* serious about this, get in touch with me. I can supply him with EVERYTHING he needs except the transfer case... Getrag, bellhousing, flywheel, clutch (new enough to read the writing on the face of it), pressure plate, clutch pedal, hydraulics, etc. I'm no longer using my Dodge cab (see sig for the reason why) and am getting ready to part it out.

PM me for details
