Where can I buy a good used (guaranteed) laptop?

Tried two new ones, both had defects and the store verified and took them back. I dont like windoze XP (eXtra Problems) either. I would prefer a nice 98SE machine. Any ideas?

If you can live with Compaq's, they have outlet stores here in the Houston area where they sell reconditioned computers.
