Terrorist Swing set, For Sale!!

Howdy all,

A friend of mine recently gave me a pair of military surplus cargo tie down loop type anchors that I am going to mount on my new Denver Off Road bumper instead of traditional tow hooks. These things are about 5/8" thick steel loops, kind of egg shaped, about 4" in diameter. They originally screwed into the floor of a C5 Galaxy transport plane or other surface to anchor vehicles like tanks, 2 1/2 & 5 ton trucks for transport, so they are way strong. Because they screwed into the floor surface, they never had nuts on them, which I now need to find.

The bolt is 1 1/8" with a fine thread pattern, not sure what the exact pattern is, but it is not a coarse thread. Those nuts I have been able to find

Does anyone know of a good online source for large nuts and bolts that I could order some of this size nut from?

Thanks,

Tom

Have you tried going to a place that services or sells heavy equitment? They should have it or know how to get it. I was a heavy equitment mechanic and our supplier, I can't remember the name, had all kinds of cool stuff.

Try http://www.mcmaster.com - they have just about everything you could need as far as hardware, tools, etc. I haven't bought from them yet but their reputation is very good. :)

If they don't have it, http://www.copperstate.com probably will - they're here in Tucson and I have dealt with them on a walk-in basis, and was treated well each time.

mcmaster is great to deal with, but if you live north of the border [like me:rolleyes: ] you will get it up the a... . well, you know, for shipping/duty and anyother way the goverment will take your money. .

Go to your Local Caterpillar dealer they have the best bolts IMHO. not bad priced either. They have phosphate oil coated or zink dicromate plated.

Being in NJ we have an account with Mcmaster car and there service is outstanding. They offer a delivery service that comes the same day if you order before 11am!!! I have a joke with my neighbor. . hes always asking me where to buy hardware? I 'd always tell um Mcmaster car. So I now tell' um you know who has it. Now he knows. JB

The military Rings I have appear to be the same and are 1-1/8 x 12 UNF.

I may have a couple of mounting plates from a military trailer with two 3/8" holes and the big thread in the center around here somewhere, I may also have some 1-1/8 nuts.

If your interested let me know and I'll go dig around the junk pile to see what I can find. I won't be back home to look till tuesday.
