I had the same urge a few years back on my 98 2500 gasser. Because it was a club cab, Dodge did not offer the stripes to fit (I still don't think they do). Also, the stripe kit was rather $. So what I did was go to a local sign shop that did custom vinyl decals. I had them order a roll of white (the truck was intense blue) 11" wide vinyl tape (I think it was a 200 ft. roll). I knew it was 11" because I stopped at a local dealer with an Indy Ram and measured the width & separation. I think the separtion between stripes was 7". anyway, I just layed out the inside edges of the stripe with a tape measere, grease pencil, and masking tape. Then a just applied the vinyl and trimmed the ends with a razor blade. It turned out awesome! The hardest part was the grille, but I took it off and did it on the workbench. Just make sure to use plenty of soapy water to apply the decals with and let it sit in the sun and warm up good to cure it. I had alot of good comments on mine and it held up great for the 3 years I owned the truck. The vinyl was easy to work with, was thick enough it wouldn't wrinkle or tear when applying, and the best part was the whole roll cost me about $60 and was enough for at least 2 trucks! If you need any more help or want me to send you some pics, just let me know.
