New member here. Not a real technical question. I bought a 92 recently and it runs pretty good. It was, no doubt, purchased as a basic work truck – bench seat, stripped down, no bells or whistles. That’s fine with me, however, the spouse likes to accompany me (and I like having her with me).

I am big as a bear but she is five foot tall. We need to get a few things to make her comfortable on trips. First is some sort of step to help her in and out of the truck.

It seems they stopped making them for anything older than a 94. I have found a generic type that mounts on the lower panel (I wonder how safe/long that will last) and an incredibly expensive electric deal that shoots out when the door opens up.

So the questions are

1. Where can I get a simple solid step that wont break my wallet?

2. Where do you get any accessories for 1st gens?

TIA :D

www.truckaddons.com can get generic diamond plate style running boards. That's what I'm putting on mine. If you find any single place to get them let me know too. Engine and drivetrain parts are easy to find.

Digger,

I use (and you can still buy) a generic "U" step from Steel Horse. I think you can get them about anywhere. Used it on my 90, and switched it to my 93. Still going strong. I only put it on my wife's side, she's about 5'2". I'd send you the other one, but gave it to my mom to use on their truck.

Digger,

I think the two I took off my truck are still in the garage. Been a while so I need to check them out. They are like the one that TugboatPhil is talking about.

You want 'em they can be your for the freight cost. Let me check them out and send you a pic.

Send me your Email so I can send the pic. Not sure how to do it thru TDR mail system.

Wow - Thanks for the support! I went to the truckaddons site, dug a bit and discovered they were owned by Trailblazers which is in Lexington Ky.

About a half hour from my home…

I ran up there Saturday and picked up a set that bolted on to the frame of the truck.

The wife is happy, and as they say: When Mamas happy…

Thanks again!

Glad to hear you made the missus happy1 ;) :) Next time you need something for the truck, remind her of how you made it easier to getin and out :D

I'm glad you bought a set cause I couldn't find the set I THINK are in the garage. Not sure what I did with them?

You and me both, Stan!! I can remember the most useless information, but spend hours every week looking for things "that I just saw the other day... . "

YEP! :) But Phil, you and I are admitting it. I know there are lots of others that do the same thing but won't say so. :-laf
