There is some discussion on the Product/Accessories forum about adding a fuel pressure gauge to the 24 valve trucks. Many members feel that a fuel pressure gauge is more critical than either boost or EGT. I'm convinced. I will install one... But where?

Do I take the pressure at the fuel filter? If so, I would assume that I measure it AFTER the filter, right?

Or, do I read the pressure at the injection pump? Is that location merely the other end of the pipe from the filter? (I realize that the pipe could create a restriction, but it's not likely. )

What advice to you members have on the subject?

The best place to mount the hose to go to the fuel pressure sender (for a 24V) is on the line the comes out of the fuel filter canister, over to the VP44 injector pump. You can get a modified "banjo" bolt from Geno's, that is treaded for a 1/8" NPT fitting in the center of the bolt. Put it in place of the bolt that holds the fuel line to the VP44, at either end.

If you do a search on this subject, you will get a lot of info... Have fun... :D

I disagree, Its much easier to come off the injection pump. I have heard about the so called fluxiation from that point but I have not seen it nor have a couple other guys that came off same port. And your seening exactly the press. going into the pump. MHO :)

If you had read, more closely, I said you could put the sender at either end of the fuel line, from the filter to the VP44. Mine is mounted at the VP44, and I initially mounted my Westach sender directly on the VP44. Within 200 miles, I had eradic readings that bounced from zero to +14psi. Remotely mounted the sender off the pump, and it's worked perfectly since. Also, some TDR members like to mount the sender line under the filter so they can keep their schrader (sp?) valve at the VP44 for shop or dealer testing/maintenance... D
