I pulled the feed off of my low beams under the hood behind to the driver's side headlight;
one problem, no gauge light when you got the brights on.

Jack, you can tap into the power feed from the dashboard illumination circuit, which will then give you ganged dimming under the control of your dashboard illumination variable control. Checkout the circuitry associated with the #13 fuse.

Look for the 5amp fuse, tie in there and you will be able to dim and brighten you gauge lights along with the dash. Not sure of the fuse # but the fuse panel cover has a list of the circuits.
You can buy an add-a-circuit at PEP Boys that will plug into the fuse block, cost about $9. 00 and is avaiable in the mini ato size. They require a slight modification to fit, where the blades slide into the fuse slot the plastic on the add-a-circuit is to thick. A little work with a file is all thats needed.

You can tie into the wires feeding the little light in the ash tray, that light also dims.

I easiest place I found is the feed for your radio. Take the facia off, 2 bolts hole the radio in, and splice into the orange wire for the "12v" with dimming and the single wire with a clip is a ground. Easy to get to, and simple to hookup.

It depends on where you are mounting the gauges. I have a pillar mount and found one of the wires on the the back of the light switch that was dimmer controlled and tapped into it. Saves routing wire all over the place IMHO.

since the wire came righr down the pillar next to the fuse block just added a add a tap on fuse #5 ( 5 amp ) and is fed from the dimmer reostst on headlite sw.

Quick and easssssy #ad

thanks for the help guys

You never said which brand of guages you have. If it is isproo then you will want to run full voltage all the time. Their lites suck and need all the help they can get.

Yeah, I wasn't impressed with the Isspro gauges either. Switched to DiProcol

the egt ( most important ) is autometer, the boost ( just fills up the hole in the piller ) is isspro
Gene-C how do you like your exhaust blanket????

just ran outside( its darn near dark ) to check the lites, boy were you right about that isspro. . can't even see it. The autometer with the red condum really looks good.

Guage lights, eh?

Well the best way to do it is to center splice onto the TAN wire coming out of the headlight switch. This is the control wires for the dimming dash lights. Don't do the fuse tap thing... it is kinda rinky-dink, and will not provide as positive of a connection as a center splice is.

The orange wire behind the radio is also an effective way to get dimming power.

JNUTTER The Hitco exhaust blanket has worked out pretty good. It went on real easy and looks nice. I bought it for the noise reduction of which it helped a little. Whether its worth $100 or not I don't know.
