Hey y'all--
I have a 96 2500 with one or two underhood ground wires that have been unhooked for a long time. I've never had a problem that motivated me to look into it until recently. Don't know if it's related, but it's time to deal with it.
First wire is attached to the core support on the drivers side near the fender. There are two wires at this location. One is ~12-gauge black with red stripe and goes to the headlight harness. That one is OK. The other is ~8-gauge, about 16" long and my guess is the original terminal may have broken off at this point, or maybe it was cut.
The other is also ~8-ga, hooked to the drivers side battery negative terminal with an aftermarket crimp-on ring terminal. However, the other end, about 24" away, has a factory ring terminal that probably attaches to a 3/8" bolt. This one, I know, has not been hooked up for the 5-6 years I've owned the truck.
Maybe these two wires were once one wire.
Can someone please follow the wire from their core support and tell me where it belongs?
Bonus points
if anyone can tell me if there's an ~8-ga wire from the engine or chassis to the battery or battery in this area.
THANKS!!!!
kevin
